Jumping on the punk!percy bandwagon.
Iâm not sorry.
âAnnabeth, dial two-zero-zero.â
Piper stared out the door, tapping her fingers anxiously against the counter. Working in a retail store, she saw a lot of things. A lot of different kings of people. Sheâs seen the elderly buying lingerie - which is gross, if you ask her.
But seeing him in a place like this was completely new.
âWhatâs up, Pipes?â
Piper snatched the phone up, looking towards the fitting room where her best friend was âChange your walkie-talkie to our channel.â
âOn it.â
Piper changed the channel on hers to channel, six, the one her and Annabeth decided was their secret channel to talk on. She waited a few seconds until she heard her friends voice âSo, whatâs going on?â
âYouâre never going to believe who was just in here buying jewelry.â
There was a pause before Annabeth sighed âI donât know, Pipes. Jason?â
âClose. But, no.â Piper smiled at a customer, before staring back towards the back of the store âPercy.â
âOh! Whatâs so shocking about him buying jewelry?â
Piper rolled her eyes, grabbing some hangers to at least look busy âThe entire school knows that they think heâs dating someone. Or, that he actually likes someone. Buying jewelry, two days before Valentineâs Day, is awfully suspicious. Donât you think?â
She heard Annabeth sigh into the speaker âYeah... But, everyone also knows that he adores his mom. It could have been for her.â
âThatâs true. But itâs just weird. I donât think he recognized me when he asked if a girl would like it.â
âHuh.â Piper could only assume that Annabeth was shrugging âIâll be up there in fifteen. Weâll talk then.â
XXXXX
âSo, you bought some jewelry?â
Percy, who was laying next to Annabeth, raised a pierced eyebrow. He looked shocked, but also nervous like he had been caught doing something. He looked over at her, taking in the way she was looking at him. He sighed.
âHow did you know that?â
Annabeth pushed her book away from her, rolling over to throw and arm and leg around him, looking up at her face âDid you not recognize Piper?â he shook his head âWell.. I donât have anyone to be jealous of, right?â
âYou? Be jealous of someone? Yeah right.â
Annabeth frowned, pushing Percy until he was on his back and straddling his waist. Percy didnât seem too concerned. He rested his hands on her thighs, only raising an eyebrow when she started sticking her hands in his pockets âWhat are you doing, Annabeth?â
âLooking for it. Where is it? I want to see it.â
He shook his head, reaching up and tangling his hand in her hair âNope. I donât think so.â
She tapped her fingers against his chest âWhy not? Is it for me?â
Percy shrugged âI wanted to get you something, so I did. Is that a problem?â
Annabeth shook her head fondly at him.
When Annabeth had met Percy Jackson, she hadnât expected them to actually like each other. Theyâre two different people. Heâs a punk and sheâs girly. There's more to Percy than he lets on, and Annabeth is glad he opened up to her.
Sally, his mother, adores her. And thatâs something Annabeth loves more than anything about going to the Jacksonâs apartment.
The cookies she makes are a plus.
âItâs not a problem. But, you didnât have to get me anything. We arenât even exclusive.â
He shrugged, puling her closer to him âSo? I like you.â
Annabeth smiled, leaning down the rest of the way and pressing her lips to his âI like you, too, Percy.â
