It’s tiny. Komaeda has to resist the urge to reach down and scoop it up: in a big city like this, a tiny puppy could easily get lost or worst. But he’s already late for school. He can’t stay here, even if it’s to pet a puppy.

He tries to go on ahead, but the puppy follows him. It whines in excitement, thinking this is some kind of game, and Komaeda stops and sighs. The puppy is looking up at him with big, sparkling eyes. It seems to have taken a shine to him, a fact that bemuses Komaeda. He doesn’t even have any dog treats. What could possibly have made this dog like him so much?

“My, how troublesome.” Giving in, Komaeda crouches down and gently lifts the puppy. It wiggles in his hands, but doesn’t seem to dislike the contact. If anything, it’s only moving so it can get closer to Komaeda. “What am I going to do with you, hm?”

In response, the puppy licks his nose. Komaeda sighs again.

“I suppose I can make a slight detour,” he says. “You’ll be safe at the vets. However, that’s as far as I’m taking you. Don’t expect to see me again after this.”

Oh not at all! You’re not a bother, in fact, I’m grateful that you even read my tags and wanted to let me know about this ;u; Thank you! I was hoping that maybe our local game stores will avail of the NISA preorder version of the game, like they’d be the ones to order a few copies of it, and then sell them here. I’m not sure if they even sold the limited edition of DRAE before or even Reload, because I.. wasn’t into DR when they came out;; (Anyone in the Philippines know if they did that before?) I bought a LE of DRAE before, but that was during a con and not in any game store… Plus, the game stores I’ve asked to says that they’ll inform me if they do decide to have the LE of V3, but there’s no guarantee they will.Tbh I’m only aiming for the art book (which is also why I bought the DRAE LE, even though I already 100% finished my own copy of DRAE), but the backpack, hat, and the rest are really good too. So… HMMMM I’m still really contemplating if I should preorder it on NISA’s website. I’m worried about the shipping; barely no one would be at home to receive it, and they can’t just leave the package outside because some people would probably take it… But I can still gamble and hope that it DOES arrive when I’m at home… Decisions, decisions… :’)

Okay! I’ve never written Ishikuro before but I hope this is okay! I went with a university setting. Also, this hasn’t actually been edited so there may be some mistakes. And now I must sleep.

4. “look i don’t mean to pry but you’ve been wearing the same outfit for three days and i just want to check that you’ve slept?”

Mukuro Ikusaba is struggling.

It is hard to say what, exactly, she’s struggling with: itcould be forcing herself to trade pleasantries with people she barely knows, orthe sleepless nights that come with her line of work, or the fact that finalsare looming. She might not pay much mind to the dull essentials of everydaylife, but even Mukuro finds herself worrying about her future. What lies aheadof her after university?

As she wonders, a strange feeling weighs on her chest. It’snot quite anxiety, not quite stress. It occurs to her that for most of her lifepeople have made decisions for her. Now she’s faced with the task of decidingher own future, and Mukuro doesn’t know what to do.

In her past exams and assignments, she clung to a passinggrade by her fingertips. After another professor shook their head and told herto try harder, she started putting time towards studying—it was expected ofher, and she couldn’t have people looking into her home life. There’s a flimsydesk in the corner of her cramped apartment, and she set up a small study spacethere; text books and notes are piled in some semblance of order. When shereturns home in the early morning, finished washing off traces of dirt and blood,she dedicates her last waking minutes to studying.

This seemed to work for some time. Mukuro’s grades slowlyclimbed up, though they were by no means remarkable, and she still managed tosleep if she had classes the next day. But finals were closing in like a packof wolves, and the uneasy feeling in her chest refused to leave.

The way she sees it, Mukuro has two choices. She could passher finals, find a normal job and live peacefully, or she could continue thedirty work, the tasks she needs all her skills from Fenrir to accomplish,taking lives as easily as breathing. Had she been someone else, one optionwould seem more obvious than the other. And yet, Mukuro hesitates.

Her ‘work’ is dangerous, but also familiar. Giving it upafter all these years is difficult. And yet, Mukuro can’t quite give up heruniversity life either. The future after university is uncharted territory, andwith that comes the promise of something new.

Unwilling to stop either life just yet, Mukuro dedicates evenmore time to studying. She lets her employers saddle her with more work. Her allottedtime for sleeping grows shorter and shorter. Her handwriting grows sloppy, andshe finishes her jobs with a little more clumsiness. And still, Mukuro doesn’tstop. It’s as if she’s trying to see with part of her breaks first—the partattached to her university life, or the part glued to her work.

Days start to bleed together, and at some point she findsherself stumbling towards her campus building for another class. She yawns,shifting her bag onto her shoulder. Her eyes are heavy. She can’t remember thelast time she ate, but that doesn’t matter right now. As soon as her class isfinished she needs to prepare for her next job.

Then she hears a concerned, “Ikusaba-kun?” from behind her, andMukuro’s mind snaps into battle mode. Despite the location, she can onlyconsider this a sneak attack. She uses a second to take in her opponent’sappearance—male, black hair, red eyes, ill-equipped for combat—and another secondto throw a punch that would have easily broken his nose had she not missedcompletely.

The combination of her addled mind, the man taking analarmed step back, and her bag swinging at her hip results in no contact.Instead, her bag throws her off balance, and her sleep deprived thoughts onlyconsider righting herself after she has already hit the floor.

“Ikusaba-kun!” The man is knelt at her side immediately, andMukuro can now see that he is not an assailant but one of her classmates. KiyotakaIshimaru, if she remembers his name correctly. He seems much more concernedabout her rather than her trying to attack him.

“I’m… okay.” Mukuro sits up. Her face stings from where shehit the gravel but she isn’t concerned about that. “I’m sorry. I’ll be goingnow.”

She stands and brushes herself off, but before she can turnto leave—

“Wait!” Ishimaru stops her. At first he stands a little tooclose, before noticing their proximity and taking an apologetic step back. “Ikusaba-kun,have you been sleeping enough?”

“…Um,” Mukuro says. She’s never spoken to Ishimaru beyondbasic pleasantries so she doesn’t know how to react. Then again, socialsituations have always been a weak point.

“Focusing on your studies is important, but you must take careof yourself, too!” Ishimaru continues, not waiting for her reply. “If you arestruggling at home in any way, I will gladly lend you an ear and help in anyway I can!”

“I… I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Ikusaba-kun.” Ishimaru’s eyes are serious. “For the pastthree days you have worn the same outfit, and the creases suggests you havebeen sleeping in it. I don’t mean to pry, but I can’t stand by if one of myclassmates is in trouble.”

Mukuro realises she’s been sloppy. In her effort to studyshe has been neglecting her appearance–she wanted to draw attention away fromherself, but if Ishimaru is worrying about her then her other classmates might bedoing the same. She imagines a professor calling the police out of concern and feelsa bubble of anxiety.

“I need to go,” she says quickly, and she barges pastIshimaru before he can stop her. She doesn’t stop running until she reaches herapartment. She fumbles with the key and lets herself in, and after a moment tomake sure her surroundings are safe Mukuro lets herself collapse onto her bed.

She wakes up about 4 hours later, groggy but much lesstired. The sun is still up, but that does little to ease Mukuro’s mind. She nowhas even less time to prepare for her job.

After washing and changing her clothes, Mukuro opens thefront door to find, to her surprise, a plastic bag. She regards it with suspicion—anythingcould be inside—but then she spots the note attached, as well as the words, “FromIshimaru.” Now confused, she tears off the note and reads it.

Ikusaba-kun,

I asked the professorfor your address. I’m very sorry, but I couldn’t stop worrying. To be asuccessful student one must be healthy in both body and mind, and I amconcerned that you are neglecting yourself on both accounts. Inside are sandwichesand a bottle of water. Please tell me if you need anything else.

I’m sorry this took a little while, but thank you!

Snakepei: I’d say I’ve got no problem with it!  I headcanon Snake as exclusively attracted to men, and I love both characters a lot, though I think there are characters I ship them with more than each other. Still it has the potential for cuteness.

Sigmakane: This one’s a little more… I think I like it? When I think how long they spent together, it easy to wonder if the loneliness and burden became too much and made them bond and rely on each other more, plus they both worked towards becoming masterminds after time travel stuff happened so they’re in a unique situation where they can understand at least that part about each other. Again, there are characters I ship them with more than each other, but it’s definitely a ship with unexplored potential.

Tenkaede: At this point I could ship Kaede with anyone. This one seems cute, so it gets a yes from me.
