#chhaaon

Chhaaon, an urban greening initiative in Karachi, was founded by architect and landscape architect Komal Parvez. The organization was officially launched on September 19, 2020, at the Quaid-e-Azam’s Mazar, with the aim of improving public spaces in Karachi in collaboration with municipal authorities.

The founders were motivated by a desire to address the city's deteriorating public spaces and to foster a greener and healthier urban environment. They pledged to move beyond negative rhetoric and take practical steps to make a positive difference in Karachi's landscape.

Chhaaon's initiatives focus on tree planting and community involvement, striving to transform urban spaces and promote environmental sustainability.

Chhaaon is committed to expanding its impact in Pakistan by strengthening its welfare programs and reaching more underprivileged communities. The organization aims to establish additional shelters, enhance healthcare and educational services, and collaborate with local and international partners for sustainable development. With a focus on women and children’s empowerment, Chhaaon envisions a future where every individual has access to the support they need to lead a dignified life.
