āI want to tell you this story without having to confess anything, without having to say that I ran out into the street to prove something.ā
THE TORN UP ROADĀ ā still accepting ā @chezqah
Ā Ā He bites his lip because he chokes on the things he might say and he has to find a way to breathe through the frustration brewing in his chest like hundreds of buzzing flies over rotting bones. With history behind them as flickering shadows of a thousand-person village pyre and with the ashes stinging his eyes and blotting out only his view of all the things that came before, there is nothing Cloud can do but trust, blindly and with a desperate hope.Ā
Trust in Tifa that sheās leading him places that will benefit them both. Trust that sheās honest and really everything heās since made her out to be. She has to understand that heās trying, and that she and that genuine effort he gives are the two most stable constants in his life, and he counts on her just as much she does him.Ā
Is killing all you want from me or are the dreams you have at night with me in them enough for you? Itās a strange dichotomyāāto look at someone and feel their soul as it resonates with your own, but not know them at all past the surface thoughts of oh, itās you. He knows her voice and her face and the trivial attributes she encompasses, and he can only try to get past the disconnect, the radio static that keeps him from hearing the truths of herself even as she shouts it to the world.Ā
And he thinks that this tension, this heartache, and all the times theyāve waited on each other and come up wanting, itās because sheās seen every shred of him, helped him put all his puzzles together, but heās not once done the same for her. He looks at her and he sees someone else, and that isnāt who she is.Ā
Sheās done it too. Theyāre both so guilty.
āYou canāt do that, Tifa. Not with me. Not if youāāwant anything to change, between us.āĀ
