#chewing cat

For such a cutie you wouldn't think Bus would be too destructive right? Wrong. He is insatiable. He's also much MUCH larger than he looks in the photos. His head is bigger than both my fists together, and he is slabs of pure muscle under his loose baby skin. So he is really strong. Buscat chews a lot. On almost everything. I'm assuming he is cutting teeth in or something since all my boys have gone through the same stage at the same age. But where I could give Dorian a bit of rawhide and he would happily chew on it for months, Bus just eats it. Straight up eats it. Because they aren't actually supposed to eat the things, (those chews can block cats up) I've had to try a whole pile of things to satiate him. Anything that is made for cats dissapears just as fast as food does, with seemingly no more effort. Chicken jerky, crocodile jerky. Beef jerky lasts a little longer but only marginally and he goes back to chewing. It also has more salt so it's not so great. I found some small beef tendons, about 15cm long and 1cm wide for most of the length, really tough and hard and almost impossible to bend. They were really great and it took him at least half an hour to eat one, and it seemed to satisfy whatever desires he had to destroy things with his mouth. But I can't find them at my local, only the really big ones cut into squares. Since we ran out I ended up grabbing a packet of dried chicken necks for dogs. Assuming that because raw necks are good for cats, the dried ones should be fine, and maybe they'll last a little longer than the chicken jerky. Good news is that he loves them. He's carrying it around everywhere and taking a disturbing amount of pleasure out of separating all the vertibrae. It looks really morbid, but I can't stop laughing at my little squinty cat gleefully running around with a severed spine in his mouth. it makes something of a mess since he's more interested in destroying it than eating it, but the others are following him around and snuffling up the pieces he's dropping. They can't be bothered with the work it takes to get anything tasty off them, they liked the cat treat ones but they don't like the really heavy stuff he needs. Dry chicken necks though, I am reccomending. If you have a terrifying monster cat that won't stop growing, give those a try.
