Strawberry Sorbabe, the Sweet Sensation!

It's been a while; it's about time to cover the (arguably) most well-known member of the Screamin' Fruit gang: Strawberry Sorbabe!

She debuted in 2001 with the entrepreneur Blabber and gadgeteer Booster, winding up the first few fruit flavours for their sick entertainment. Sorbabe's a musical celebrity in the fruit world who deejays at her own nightclub, has released her own records, and guest stars in a lot of fruit media! However, those who get too attached to her may end up wound into a Winder by her hands.

She's got nine backing comics and eight advertising comics to her name, with two other undiscovered comics known to exist.

Sorbabe appears in most of the television adverts, though she mainly stars in three. She made her debut in the 2001 Strawberry Fruit Winders commerical, where she sets an elaborate trap to torment a poor strawberry. Their stalk is tied to a plane and their flesh is cemented to the ground. Sorbabe boogies as the strawberry gets stretched by the plane taking off...and she blows them a kiss goodbye.

In the following year of 2002, she'd be the subject of another Strawberry Fruit Winders commercial, where we see her doing what she does best: deejay, at "Club Sorbabe" (called Sorbabe Club in the commercial for some reason). A nervous strawberry joins the party, and Sorbabe gets him to dance, but Sorbabe finds their dancing to be rubbish and presses a suspicious button labelled "ROLL star." The dance floor was actually a press, and the lame-o strawberry is flattened (to the horror of everyone).

Sorbabe's last major appearance was in the 2005 Fruit Winders Doubles commercial, where she chases down a strawberry in a car pulled by restless dog-like animals. She works with Max to help corner the strawberry and an apple, causing them to squish together. The girls suck up the mixed fruit into a processor, which spits out the fruit's unneeded parts and makes strawberry-apple doubles. The girls proceed to play around with their victim.

In most other TV ads, Sorbabe accompanies her friends after their wind-up stunts are finished. Notably, she appears in the Winders Keepers commercials only as a figment of the orange victim's imagination, where she snatches away their video game console like a strict mother. Her 3D model from the commercials gained a headset in 2002 to represent her deejaying. She would eventually take it off in 2006 for her last two appearances.

Being an early character, she got some appearances in Flash material too. She appears as a playable character in the FunFear games "Terror Twister" and "FrightBall" like the other two original mascots. As shown in an old biography animation and as mentioned in old interviews, she loved to terrorize her nursery as a baby.

The Screamin' Fruit Gang...The Bane of All Fruit!

This is the Screamin' Fruit gang, the mascots who bring the Fruit Winders brand to life...literally. You see these guys in the adverts, slaughtering living fruit and turning them into snacks. These folks aren't your average corporate mascot...they've got an attitude fitting the time period they came to life in.

These mean misfits first appeared in 2001, making their grand debut on the Fruit Winders website. They were first referred to as the "ChewChat gang" or "Fruit Winders gang," before being renamed to the "Screamin' Fruit gang" a few years later in 2003.

Initially made up of the iconic trio of the fresh and funky "Strawberry Sorbabe," the genius jerk "Blackcurrant Booster," and the maniacal mastermind "Orange Blabber." The three represented the flavours of the snack available at launch, chasing down fruit that represent the real fruit used as ingredients.

However, these weren't the only flavours that were available during the Screamin' Fruit gang's reign over the brand.

In 2002, when Apple was released as a flavour, the stunt speedster "Apple Max" was added to the cast of characters. But that's not everyone. In the following two years, the wicked wizard "Tropical Voojuice," the girl with the gall "Lemon Sadie," and the espionage expert "Raspberry Stealth" made their appearance.

As time went on and flavours were discontinued, characters began to disappear until only Sorbabe, Max, and Booster remained. They remained in comic strips printed on Fruit Winders backing paper until Fruit Winders was completely rebranded at an unknown point during 2020 or later, which marked the end of their use in Fruit Winders media.

Orange Blabber, the Cheeky Citrus!

The first member of the Screamin' Fruit gang we're going over is Orange Blabber, since he's known to be the gang's leader.

Blabber made his first appearance in 2001 alongside his fellow gang members Sorbabe and Booster. Like his associates, he loves winding up fruit. Blabber's an entrepreneur and artist who runs fun fairs and produces television shows, but he's a cunning con man. Whether or not you win or lose your bets with him, your prize is being wound up.

He's known to appear in eight of both the backing paper comics and the advertising comics...well technically he appeared in nine advertising comics, as he joined Sorbabe in "Double Trouble" (a Sorbabe comic strip which isn't to be confused with the series "Double Trouble" featured in Doubles).

He appears as the main star of three television adverts (or two, if you don't think the different versions of Winders Keepers are separate adverts). His first major starring ad role is in the Orange Fruit Winders commercial from 2001, where he flattens an orange with a steam roller and scoops them up into a Fruit Winder.

His second (and last) main role would be in the Winders Keepers ads. An orange had won a video game console, but Blabber's limousine came along and squished him, so now that console's Blabber's.

He'd continue to appear in commercials alongside his fellow gangsters, even in the Fruit Spurters ad where no orange-flavour version of the product was available. His only "major" (heavy quotes) later appearance is in the Fruity Booty promo advert where it seems he repeated his stunts from the previous ads. Interestingly, Blabber's 3D model appears to have stayed the same throughout the entire campaign, and he wears gloves for whatever reason.

He's also made some appearances in some of the online games, mainly as a playable character in "Terror Twister," "Winders FrightBall," and "Chewchase." It is suggested by text in Chewchase and by a print advert that Blabber runs the "Funfear" that some online games take place in.
