poppy’s always been one to develop a crush or feelings for people fairly fast, so meeting felix wasn’t any exception to that. they met within the first like week of her moving here, when she’d gone around to all the fellow business owners with fresh baked treats to say hello and attempt to make more friends. most of them just took her muffin or cookie and never spoke to her again, but with felix a genuine connection was formed. they sat in the repair shop and got to know each other for about an hour before she had to move on to the next place. it wasn’t too long later before she was returning with a new treat and an invitation to the opening night party she was throwing at the craft store. and when he showed up, poppy found herself spending a good majority of the night with him despite the place being fairly packed. it was that night that she first felt the telltale signs of a new crush forming. it wasn’t until about a month later though that anything actually happened with them - the two had been hanging out together and felix asked how she’d feel about calling this a date, to which she quickly and eagerly said she’d love that
he was the first serious relationship she’d had since the break-up with creek. she’d hooked up with people and had a few short-lived relationships in between then and meeting felix, but nothing that really meant anything. nothing that had her feeling any type of love. which she definitely did feel for felix and told him fairly early on into the relationship - probably in the second month. it came out easily, like it always does for her, and didn’t scare her the way she thought it would. because loving people has always been easy for poppy - it was dealing with being in love that gets her messed up. but she never really hit that point with felix despite how great things went during their seven month run. to this day she still says he was probably the sweetest guy she’s ever dated and she’d be lying if she said she didn’t occasionally have the what if thoughts about what their future could have been like together had she not freaked out and ended things. but she’s also come to terms with the fact that they’re better off friends - they work well as friends and though she’ll always have love for him, it’s not so deeply romantic as she once thought it was.
they used to cook so much together. it was their favorite type of date night. just staying in and making a meal from scratch together and maybe watching a movie after or playing some kind of board game. simple and easy, but fun. just like so much of their relationship had been until the very end.
