ohhhh boy ive seen quite a few of these reverse aus and here my thoughts!!

1. Jaskier is of the cat school.I've seen people say viper but viper is a stealth-based school and I think Jaskier’s fighting style of more reminiscent of a feral alley cat 

2. Geralt plays the lyre! The pointed notes mix well with his deep haunting baritone.

3. Jaskier still approaches Geralt in their first meeting, requesting a song that Geralt did not know (probably some rowdy drinking song). Geralt at first did not immediately register he was talking to a witcher since witchers and supposed to be intimidating and secretive and Jaskier is full of swagger. When he did realize he was....intrigued. If the stories about witchers were wrong he wanted to be the one to find out.

4. Geralt still doesn’t talk much, preferring to listen and transcribe his experiences into song or story, but it’s okay since Jaskier has been traveling alone for a long while and is used to ranting at things that don’t answer him back (if roach could speak...) 

5. After they’ve settled down for camp Jaskier will try to request songs but Geralt never listens to him, claiming to not have heard of them. Instead, Geralt will play his melancholic refrains and Jaskier will always listen quietly. (Jaskier does really enjoys Geralt’s playing but never tells him because he doesn’t want to “inflate his already massive head.”)

6. (bonus I guess) after Geralt finishes his song Jaskier will pause before saying. “That was lovely but do you want some constructive criticism?” and Geralt will always respond “No.” or some variation and it makes Jaskier laugh every time.

Hey! I’m so glad you like my vc content AND the writing advice has inspired you. Even more that it’s made you think about things differently, bc there’s so much nuance with writing, the fact that ppl disagree about authorial intent, or just that they get different things out of the same text, it’s endlessly intriguing to me.

Sorry it took me so long to answer! When I received this 2 months ago I was very touched, and had to hold onto this ^_____^ and then I wanted to come up with a better response, since you’re grateful about the writing advice, shouldn’t I have something eloquent to write about that? When really this is my modus operandi about writing:

I couldn’t come up with anything much better than that! *facepalm* Writer’s block *grumbles* 

I had no idea that this blog would become so advice-heavy on writing, but it definitely has increased in the past few yrs, not just in what I’ve reblogged, but my own advice now and then, too. It runs along the same lines as being a supporter of shippers, wanting to encourage all fanwork production, writing being an equal form to fanart, cosplay, etc. Ppl should be encouraged to write and share their vision with others, I wouldn’t be the writer I am today without beta readers pushing me and keeping me in line!

As for my own advice, memorably, someone had asked me a year ago about how to make a character’s death really sad, and I enjoyed answering that one, and the great addition from @monstersinthecosmos, one of my fave fanfic authors (I really need to go back and comment on her fics ;u;).

I have collected a bunch of advice in my #on writing tag if you want to dig for more, but take it all with a grain of salt bc as I look back on some of my responses… I’ve mellowed somewhat over the years… I don’t think I’d be as bubbly/hyperbolic/vociferous the way I used to be… I’m not gonna battle on every hill someone challenges me on. 

…Privately tho, with ppl I trust to debate in good faith who aren’t doing it for public spectacle, I do still enjoy a good swordfight w/ those who know who they are ^______^

I love the idea that Greg teaches music and maybe planned to do that before he dropped out of college. Now he teaches the new gems music at the school!

Someone once floated the idea that Steg is like that because Steven sees his dad as a rockstar and Greg sees Steven as a superhero. And while those views aren’t accurate and they know that- it’s fun to pretend for a bit and just....fucking jam like they did before. 

I do think Greg attempted to reach out to his parents after their falling out but they never responded and eventually he kinda gave up

Bonus: I really do think Greg knew more about the whole Pink Diamond thing than he let on. I don’t think Rose gave him specifics but maybe on some of her particularly troubled nights she told him vague stories about the other diamonds and her desire to be free.
