I'm SO glad you asked because I was just bombarded with so many Marlene thoughts!!

Okay so I believe it was @maliciouslittlewhiteboy who put me onto the concept of her with an older brother, these are mostly about that

So Marlene has an older brother who she ADORES, she follows him everywhere

They live in one of those small town, everyone-knows-everyone kinda places

Everyone knows Marlene as the little kid trailing after her brother

They have a big age gap, I wanna say like ~13 years

They hung out on the swings at the park and he always had to help her get on them because she was too small

He would always buy her ice cream and treats behind their parents' backs because they were convinced that processed food would kill them all

He's the one who first helped her dye her hair blonde, because he was always dyeing his hair random colours (they're both natural brunets)

In Marlene's fifth year, he promised to dye it red for her when he got back from a road trip with his friends but there was an accident and he never did come back

She never dyed her full head any colour besides blonde after that because she wanted to keep it to remember him, but she would get streaks of other colours — never red, though

When she came back to her parents' home to visit, nobody recognised her because after her brother's death, she never left the house much

She ran into a few of her brother's friends and they didn't realise it was her until one of them pointed out "oh, it's ___'s little sister" and it hurt like hell because her identity still hinged on a person that was no longer there

She became very close friends with Barty because he reminded her of her brother, and they would help each other dye their hair (Barty blond -> brown, Marlene brown -> blonde)

It was her brother who first taught her how to fly so after he died she couldn't play Quidditch for a while

On one of her visits back home, she found her brother's bag from the road trip and she found a ring box in it because he was planning on proposing to his girlfriend at the time

So she went to the girlfriend's house to tell her that and found out that she was seeing someone else

Marlene got really mad because how could she just move on? She ended up trying to hit the girlfriend and fighting with her new boyfriend

When she first met Dorcas' family and hung out with all of Dorcas' younger siblings she tried her best to be like her brother because he was the best big brother ever, and later when they were alone she cried in Dorcas' arms because she didn't think she was doing well enough and Dorcas held her and told her she was doing great and her brother would be proud of her

Even though Marlene never actually came out to her brother, he always knew she was a lesbian and was the one pushing her to talk to the girls she liked

Especially cause with Marlene I'm imagining her with a more feminine Barty

i think marlene being with a more feminine barty would help her realize it’s okay to be more masculine some days(i hc her to be bigender)

random thoughts would be these:

lily wears a LOT of lipstick so she can kind of mark marlene's and barty's cheeks when kissing them there

i love the concept of a bartylilylene band au: lily would be the bassist, marlene the front singer/guitarist, barty the drummer

when barty and marls have especially bad disphoria, lily takes them out on dates where they smoke on rooftops of abandoned houses/lost places where they try to forget about everything

barty in pink lace underwear and marls in simple boxers and lily who loves both

all of them have religious guilt, no further questions asked

they have so so many activist, anti capitalism, etc stickers on their fridge, i can't explain

another au idea: meet cute when they are all vandalising the same big company building
