Like omfgggg sexy cowboy evan and cowboy barty and cowboy james come save me.

Evan and Regulus's relationship is incredibly important to me. They're distantly related, through some far off marriage, and that sort of counts for something. They grow up very close.

Evan and Regulus are close enough growing up that Sirius and Evan become close too, and both Evan and Regulus deeply admire the older Black brother. As they get older, and Sirius strays further and further, they both take it very personally. Reglus mourns his actual brother, and Evan mourns the boy who stepped up as his brother. Regulus becomes very attached to Evan in the sense that he does everything he can to make sure Evan stays. And Evan promises himself that he will never become the one who leaves.

Regulus views himself as a sort of protector as Evan. In order to make it so Evan never leaves like his own brother, he does all he can to protect Evan and ensure that Evan never strays from him.

Evan adores Regulus. They're both terrible, but in a sort of even way. They feed off each other. Evan does nearly anything Regulus says. Regulus is the only person he trusts fully and entirely, even when he starts to fall for Barty later. And Evan is the only one who Regulus will really tell anything too. This is so important!!

I think that when Regulus died, Evan's world shattered. Like full on, he wouldn't eat, he wouldn't get out of bed. He was heart broken. Violent and angry. Anything he did eat, he couldn't manage to keep down. He would throw up, or it would hurt so had he would force himself to throw it up because he just couldn't take it. Regulus was more than his best friend, he was his brother, his guide. More than anything, he was just really lost. He didn't know what to do without Regulus guiding him. They had gotten their dark marks together, they had always done every class together. They even slept in the same bed (much to Barty's frustration) a lot of the time. I think the only person Evan would see for quite a minute after Regulus's death was Barty. And barty, who had never been trusted by Regulus and therefore never liked him, didn't exactly know what to do with all this grief just ripping out of Evan.

Evan telling Sirius personally is also so important to me. I think when Evan had to break the news, Evan wanted so badly to just die right then and there. Sirius reacted violently, and their fight was aggressive and harsh. They were angry and hurting and Sirius blamed himself but also Evan. And Evan blamed himself and also Sirius, for leaving. It was loud and hurtful and terrible.

This only adds to Evan's grief and anger. After a couple of weeks, he understands he can't rot anymore, and he throws his everything into his death eater work. He's aggressive, he's ruthless, he's sick in the head, and he's violent.

He also never learns what happened to Regulus. He just remembered one night Regulus was behaving oddly, ruder than usual. Sharper. Evan didn't mind. He always liked when Regulus bit at him, and he liked to bite back. Regulus was the only person that Evan doesn't mind being rude to him. But that was the last time Evan ever saw Regulus. He vanished, and a few days later the Dark Lord announced that he was dead. And that's the last Evan ever hears of him. It's heart breaking, that he never gets closure.

Ugh they make me so ill. Truly I can't ever fall for the "barty and Regulus were best friends" propaganda, not when Evan and Regulus grew up together and are just UGH I love them im so sad for them.
