The Nightingales were an early 1980s band from Birmingham, England. I kind of assumed they were part of the C86 compilation (they did originally release on Cherry Records), but I can’t see that they were. Perhaps they fell too much into The Fall camp to be considered for that compilation.
“Pigs on Purpose” has been reissued with an extra LP. This band is hard to pinpoint - Boomtown Rats, Wedding Present, Orange Juice, The June Brides and the aforementioned The Fall are all here. But, Nightingales predated Wedding Present.
