To be fair, you have to have a very high amount of media literacy to understand Chainsaw Man. The themes are extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of psychodynamics and eschatological literature, most of the scenes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also Makima's terrifying outlook, which is deftly woven into her characterisation - her personal philosophy draws heavily from John Miltons works, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the emotional capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these scenes, to realize that they're not just gooner scenes- they say something deep about SEX. As a consequence people who dislike Chainsaw Man truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the profoundness in Dennis's existencial catchphrase "I just wanna touch some boobs" which itself is a cryptic reference to CG Jung's Psychology of the Unconscious. I'm jerking it right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Fujimotor's genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a Chainsaw Man tattoo. And no, you cannot see it.
