I am actually flabbergasted. I spent the entire day reading this story, hungover, and by god, I think that I have discovered the cure for a truly wicked hangover and I'll be damned if it's not this fic. I have been searching for m o n t h s for a good post-Reichenbach story that was decent length, full of angst, beautifully written and captured Sherlock's pains and struggles from his hiatus subtly and completely believably, a johnlock story where Mary was characterized perfectly to make you love her, but that her death was not made out to be unimportant. I have found that fanfiction. My ultimate fanfiction. John and Sherlock and ALL the minor characters were perfectly believable, the plot line was exquisite, and the length perfect, it had a happy ending but was extremely painful and dark in many places along the way. I have been scrolling backwards through the post-reichenbach tag, deliberately searching, because I knew specifically exactly what I wanted to read, and I have scrolled through literally hundred of fics, reading some great ones, and some god awful ones, but I was starting to think what I wanted didn't exist and I might have to write the damn thing myself (though I'm an appalling author). Thank you so fucking much for this. It means the world to me. 'No Light, No Light' is one of my favourite songs, and it just fits Sherlock and john so well. Many people have attempted fics based upon it, but only this one really does the song justice. I can completely and honestly say that this could be one of the best things that I have ever read, and I'm not saying that lightly. I can stop looking now, and just reread this one when I feel that craving. Also, 'chemicaldefect' is an excellent name, but I assure you that you are far from the losing side.
