In many turtle species, the sex of offspring is determined by the temperature at which they incubate as eggs, but there are are exceptions! The Murray river turtle is one of a few turtle species that determines the sex of their offspring via XX/XY chromosomes, the same way that humans do!

I first thought these two were the same species, but they are different. It seems a few turtles gather here to feed.
