Chelela Pass
Chelela Pass is one of the highest motorable passes in Bhutan. It is located at an elevation of 3,988 meters above sea level between Haa and Paro valley.
Ascending from Paro (2,200 meters) to Chelela Pass, the route takes you through a spectacularly lovely forest of pine, oak, and rhododendrons that ablaze in red and pink blossoms in April and May month.
Chelela Pass is marked by numerous colorful prayer flags against the backdrop of deep blue sky. Once you cross the tree line, you are likely to see yaks grazing in the alpine meadows. And on a clear day you will also be able to see the spectacular Mt. Jomolhari (7,326m) and other Himalayan ranges.
