Mason tapped his foot anxiously, waiting for Dani Harper’s arrival. He hoped she actually meant what she said in offering help. He really needed to look good for the party. Not only to not get made fun of for looking like a dork, but also to impress Harmony. He checked the clock, tapping his pen against his notebook. Only a few minutes after the release bell had passed, but he was so anxious about the whole thing it felt like an hour or two. Every time the door opened, he jumped, ready to grab his stuff and run, but it would never be the girl he was looking for. He wondered exactly why Dani had chosen to help him. She’d claimed to be one of the nicer mean girls, but even then he was certain after their previous interaction that she was still miffed at him for insinuating that she was stupid. He’d been so lost in thought that he hadn’t noticed the figure approach him until they tapped his shoulder. He jumped and sent his bag crashing to the ground, his tutor supplies and own homework spilling out.
