Worf is a security guard at an interstellar art gallery. He likes his job despite not caring much for the artworks — especially the really bland, minimalist ones. Lately, he’s been noticing a tall human frequenting the gallery. The man lingers especially long in front of a large white painting, but Worf has never seen the appeal. In fact, he finds the human much more interesting.

But one night, he notices the man shedding a tear in front of the painting. Despite Worf’s usually so professional gaze, their eyes meet and the man flashes him an embarrassed smile. “Sorry,” he says and steps toward Worf.

Worf straightens up, taken aback by such a reaction. “Not at all.”

“It’s just... that painting is making me all sentimental.”

That comment makes Worf shift — his silent disagreement does not escape the visitor’s bright blue eyes.

“You think it’s stupid.”

“No! No, not at all. I simply lack what is needed to... appreciate such an artwork.”

The human smiles. “I thought the same of me. But here I am. It reminds me of home. Lots of snow in Alaska, y’know?”

For a while, they both stare at the painting with only the stars watching through the large windows. Worf takes heart and introduces himself. The weather in Minsk was similar, he remembers. Turns out the appreciating art is a lot easier when you’re talking to someone about it.

logan doesn't care for the subway. never has, never will. ...well, he still takes it, obviously. not much a choice with that one. it's a part of life, yeah? but most often those rides are the worst part of his day. all they symbolize to him is that he's so close to home, but so far away. devastating, really. but, as with most things, jian's made the rides better. as in, logan doesn't care for the obnoxious jerks of the train's car as they continuously brake — only seeing which one of the pair can stay up the longest without holding onto anything. he doesn't care for the fact that he can't sit down, only the fact that jian trusts him enough to lean on him and know he won't let him fall. he doesn't even mind the fact that his hand is cramping from holding onto the overhead bar because his boyfriend's hand is in his other one, playing with his fingers as they wait for their stop. it's cute, the way jian doesn't even realize that he's doing it until logan's looking at him with a grin. "nothing, you've just got something on your face." he waits the natural what? in response before he's bombarding his boyfriend's cheeks with pecks.

“I’m sitting in wet grass, in the middle of the night...” He whispers, looking at the stars and feeling like raising his voice would be a mistake, it would bother the shining of galaxies, it would stop the warm late spring breeze. “... of course I’m doing it for a good reason.”

He looks away from the night sky, meets Blakk’s eyes, knowing where he is despise the dark, no thanks to the Force, but because he can almost feel his heart beating, of maybe it’s his, or maybe it’s theirs, dancing at the same wild song.

He’s holding him gently, keeping him in his arms and counting his soft breaths with the back of his mind. The man is warm, resting his head on the Sith’s chest, and Illyrio traces invisible patterns on his naked back.

He feels energies flowing in and out of him, feels them caress the spaces around Blakk almost shyly, protective and caring. He feels the moon on his skin, feels peace and something else he refuses to name. His heart opens, followed by his lips, and a breath, holding a whisper, holding a secret, is shared into the night.
