#cheatsy koopa

Recently got back on NEWGROUNDS, but I'd like to use it more as a kind of showcase for my shiny finished works. I'd still like to share doodles and unpolished work though, so I'm hopping onto Tumblr to enjoy its more laid back expectations when it comes to art.

This is an older piece I still get a kick out of. Lots of bits that bug me, but it's my fav gang so I can't not love it, no matter how iffy I think the quality is nowadays XD You’ll see a lot of these guys here 💚

Believe it or not the unofficial super old Mario cartoons famously known for the koopalings having completely different names and personalities predicted the Ludwig and Larry duo from Mario and Luigi: paper jam and here's proof

like mario basically had to STARVE for a whole day while king koopa only had to just NOT get mad. unfair ass contest mannnn 😭 AND THEN the koopalings were gonna follow him around and try to tempt him the whole time….smhhhhh

I drew a picture of all the Koopa Kids standing in the void in 2021 and it's been haunting me ever since. So I finally decided to redraw it.

i felt like drawing Larry last night, which carried over into today, and somehow ended up drawing not-Larry?? but hey, i'm not complaining, i'm just glad i drew PERIOD

anyways, this is Cheatsy(or CHEAT$Y, if you're feeling stylish), also known as Crypto, also known as Larry's Shadow! part of a reboot of an older thing i've been working on

quick aside: Shadows, in this case, refer to the personification of one's deepest desires and/or insecurities. they usually appear in a distorted form and are associated with specific things, with both often being emblematic of what their counterpart(henceforth referred to as the Ego) fears the most. most Shadows are hostile towards their Egos and will actively pursue them if given the chance. the only way to defeat them is for the Ego to admit their faults and accept the Shadow as their own, pacifying it in the process.

now for the Cheatsy-specific tingz:

• cool and arrogant when in control of a situation, but becomes testy and desperate when not • associated with reflections—Cheatsy manifests herself in Larry's reflections, she uses reflective surfaces to travel between places, and literally lives in what she refers to as "The Mirror World" • defaults to the more monstrous "Tarnished" form(not pictured), and can only switch to her "Clean" form(pictured above) if she successfully swaps places with Larry • representative of Larry's fear of monsters and the supernatural, his fear of being abandoned, and his insecurities regarding multiple parts of his identity • the name Crypto refers to a moniker given to her as one of the Shadows responsible for a cyberattack on a particular suite • Cheatsy's star is on the right side of her head while Larry's is on the left; similarly, while "Clean", Cheatsy's face is a little off compared to Larry's due to her face being a reflection of his, so she tries to hide this with makeup

This isn't my new ask blog, this is my personal blog I've had for about 3 years now if not more. However, if you guys are ok with me answering Koopaling questions without art, you can keep asking here cuz I understand I am taking a long time to make art for the other blog. Ludwig: Hate. Absolute hatred. He would go on a verbal rampage that would last a comical 3 hours about how much he hates everything about Kooky. The biggest offense? The HAIR.

Iggy: Absolutely adores Hop, says he's just like himself but tiny. Would immediately take him for a ride in a giant robot with lasers.

Morton: He'd be impressed to find someone who can talk as much as himself. He'd gladly partake in a very long conversation with Big Mouth.

Roy: Definitely fights with Bully right away. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? I'M BULLY KOOPA, WHAT'S IT TO YA? YOU AIN'T NO BULLY YOU POSER. OH YEAH? *insert Looney Tunes ass fight sequence*

Wendy: Hatred so profound, she's at a loss for words. A stereotypical, bratty, spoiled little girl is exactly what she loathes being perceived as.

Lemmy: Like Iggy, he would love Hip. He'd be joining the joy ride in the giant robot with lasers, and later have a fun little two-act circus session.

Larry: Would admire the high-powered prince persona Cheatsy puts on, and how he seemingly gets whatever he wants. Cheatsy would absolutely be a terrible influence on Larry.
