Today I can only think about Charles getting injured so terribly to the point that he's bleeding out. He is losing too much blood and there's no way they'll get him to a hospital or summon a healer in time.
Here comes Erik. Absolutely desperate, willing to do anything to save Charles. He focuses his whole being into one, most important, task—keeping Charles' blood inside and flowing.

I watched Apocalypse and Dark Phoenix like almost back to back and one of the things that made me go most "?" was how Erik and Charles were handled.
I mean, you ended up with Erik and Jean rebuilding the school, Erik and Charles smiling at each other etc. Everything is good, Erik is on Genosha, all good.
And then suddenly there was the scene where Erik says "You're always sorry and there's always a speech, but nobody cares anymore." and that did made me go like ???? because obviously Erik was very very mad due to Mystique's death, but i was still like ?????? why 😠The contrast between the end of Apocalypse and then DP was so weird like,,, luckily the ending saved it
After they settle on Genosha, Charles is almost permanently residing in Erik's mind. He finally doesn't have to limit himself, he doesn't have to cage and hide his gift. Erik loves the feeling of Charles in his mind, this little bundle of warmth in the back of his thoughts.
Thanks to that bond, it's very simple for Charles to project his feelings—just like he feels Erik's feelings, the other man knows Charles' feelings most of the time as well.
That's why Erik drops everything when he feels a spark of fear settle in Charles.
Sometimes I wonder what would happen if Charles simply lost consciousness after getting shot. Erik would most likely freak out (together with Raven, Moira, Hank and basically everyone else) and they would end up surely trying to rush him to a hospital instead of rushing a divorce

My idea for @paully-wally 's ask about Charles in a time loop on Cuba.
This is really angsty so hold on :"D
The first time it happens, he doesn't understand what's going on. He opens his eyes, and Moira is by his side again in the ruins of the jet, shortly after he felt a coin going through his head– no, not his, not his.
He is confused. This all already happened once, so how did he..? Was it just some kind of a weird and twisted imagination stemming from his mind almost dying? Was it a hidden secondary mutation of his, foresight? Or did Emma manage to escape and forced her way into his mind?
Everything happens the same, Erik and Raven leave, he cannot feel his legs.
He wakes up in the jet again.
The next numerous "loops" are similar. No matter what he says or does, it always ends the same. Even when Raven sometimes stays, Erik doesn't and Charles ends up broken
At some point, he starts losing it. There is a loop where he just screams out his frustrations at the whole situation he's in. Everyone thinks he's gone completely insane—especially Moira who saw him scream in the jet just a few moments ago.
He once even tries to join Erik. He agrees to go with him as he's laying in his best friend's arms. He falls asleep or loses consciousness later. Wakes up in the jet again.
There is, as much as he hates to admit it, even to himself, an instance where he accidentally hurts or kills everyone on the beach with a telepathic outburst.
Then there is the one where he simply never gets up in the jet. He lets himself fall back into the abyss to take a break.
He starts remembering everything. The trajectory of the bullets that Erik deflects, where everyone is standing, scenarios that he's tried already.
At a point he angles himself so the bullet kills him.
Then, finally, he manages to make Erik stay. He's so relieved and happy that he cries and Erik holds him, tearing up on his own. He is so happy that he could burst with it, this will finally end–
He wakes up in the jet again.
He eventually settles with the fact that no matter what happens, Erik will leave. Raven will leave as well. And he will be left broken in both heart and body on the beach.
It's just when he accepts that that he wakes up in the hospital, with Hank and Moira by his side.
Charles would actually be very surprised by me I believe, because I would desperately want him to try his telepathic abilities on me. His powers make me so excited and interested and curious
