The Grey Art Gallery
A Feast of Astonishments: Charlotte Moorman and the Avant-Garde, 1960s–1980s, is the exhibition held at The Grey Art Gallery, examines the creative activities and legacy of Charlotte Moorman, whose contributions as a visual artist, performance artist, musician, and advocate for the artistic avant-garde of the 1960s and ’70s in the United States and Europe.
Talking about ‘avant-garde’, there is no one else perfect for the word besides Charlotte Moorman. Her rule is about breaking rules, doubts, experiments like enlightenment age after those middle ages where human can merely being curious and closed by doubtful, forceful upper restrictions.
A Feast of Astonishments explores many facets of Moorman’s career, including her early years, the music she performed, the festivals she organized, and the sculptural cellos she created.
Her experiment is so surreal, like a thought of someone that can only think but cannot be done in reality, like an anarchy, breaking rules.
