could u please expand on the relationship and potential dynamics between alex and charles?
Warning: sorry for lackluster answer. I don’t have the time or ability to make this more detailed for now, but I might at a future date
This one [referring to an ask response where I rated alex ships] was built more on things I think would be fun to pontificate/write about, and im sure others have much more detailed info in this but im too lazy to compile.
If you don’t know, they were teammates in GP3, and finished first and second. The gap between them was less than I remembered, but I felt like there was this narrative that Charles was wiping the floor with him so to speak. (Charles then went on to actually fully undoubtedly wipe the floor with everyone in f2, and Alex was underperforming and had a slump at the end of that season (tho they weren’t teammates in f2) which was generally an interesting era for Alex
In terms of f1, they do sometimes list each other as friends, but I’ve seen Charles at least twice say he’s thrilled that Alex is back in formula one (after his year long holiday aka the dark ages aka Red Bull relegating him to sim hell for his sins) and I like that vibe.
Again, im sure someone has compiled a list of more comprehensive background info on this, but I was more thinking in terms of vibes that it would be fun to think about a Charles who likes Alex when Alex is struggling bc it makes him nostalgic for the Alex he knew when they were teammates but Alex only likes Charles when Alex is doing better because Alex doesnt like feeling inferior. For me thats the type of thing/dynamic that I enjoy pondering. To be clear, this isn’t one of my “I think this is actually happening” takes, but it is more like a “I think this would be interesting to play around with” takes
