The famous “Lunch atop a Skyscraper” was shot on the 69th floor of the RCA building, 30 Rockefeller Plaza, in Manhattan, New York City. Not the Empire State Building, which had opened over a year earlier and can be clearly seen in the background of this photo. It was also a staged publicity photo.
Until this very moment, I never gave a thought to the guy taking the photo!
