♤ - Given a chance to learn and use a combat ability or magic they don’t possess, what would your muse choose?
Well, she already wishes her innocence was combative, so she’d wish for something she could fight akuma with. She really wouldn’t care what beyond that, as long as it gave her the ability to actually feel useful in the war and feel like she is capable of protecting people, which is the reason she wants to fight in the first place. (Fun fact: if her innocence was combative, it’d be a trident)
♧ - Does your muse have any regrets about a battle or incident they had to fight in? Has it changed them?
Too many to list. If anyone dies on any mission with her for any reason, she blames herself and makes a point to not forgive herself for it. She’s memorized the name and age of every person who’s died on missions that she was also on and knows personal details about a good amount (due to her chatty nature during commutes).
I will bring up the big one though–the event that got her transferred to the European branch–because it’s a super defining point in her life and she will basically never tell anyone about it. Basically, she was a part of a mission party sent out to explore a strange phenomenon involving a carnival that would appear and disappear too quickly to be natural. During investigations, the party split up and she was given the exterior of the carnival area to monitor. Having her innocence deactivated at the time, she failed to notice when an akuma appeared and wiped out the entire carnival grounds with a single explosion. Since she was on the outside, she was knocked out by the blast but wasn’t killed in it. But no one in the mission party or any civilian who was at the carnival survived. Feeling guilty for the whole occurrence, she did two things. The first was to train herself to keep her innocence active at all times, including while she sleeps, despite the drain on her physically. She hasn’t intentionally deactivated her innocence since she obtained this ability and if she were to ever do it, her energy and strength would skyrocket. The second thing she did was in how she reported the incident when she returned to the South American headquarters. As the only one alive to report what had happened and feeling responsible for the tragedy, the way she wrote the report made the entire thing sound like a result of her own incompetence and negligence. This report (on top of her general but minor previous insubordination) resulted in her transfer to the larger European branch, where she could be monitored more thoroughly. The official (but inaccurate) incident report is the one that remains on file with the order, so Charlotte is the only person alive who knows the exact details of what happened. And she is never going to get over the burden of the number of people she feels she killed in that single day.
☋ - Does your muse believe in the ‘brothers and sisters of battle’ concept, growing close to their fellows, or are they distant from others?
More or less. While she’s in the order, she makes a point to get close to the other people that are a part of it, exorcist, finder, or anyone else. She does everything in her power to make their lives just a little brighter and tries to see everyone as someone she could potentially be close to.
That said, if the war were to end, there are a number of her fellow exorcists she would straight-up pretend that she never met if she happened to run into them again. She would want to forget her time at the order quickly and go back to a more normal life. This wouldn’t happen as much with the people she actually grew close to and who were friendly with her, but there have certainly been some relationships that damaged her severely enough that she’d have to get away from them in order to actually find happiness again (the ones that come to mind immediately are Mikumiku Seu and a now-inactive Kanda, as well as a handful of others).
✗ - Has your muse ever been a victim of friendly fire or been betrayed during a fight? How did they react?
There was a thread with the aforementioned inactive Kanda in which he, in trying to stop her from running out onto the battlefield like an idiot, beat her down both physically and verbally to almost the point of her becoming a fallen one. In Charlotte’s mind, that was close enough to a betrayal to be mentioned here.
Then there’s the fact that she’s pretty sure the order sometimes sends her on dangerous missions hoping that she’ll die and they’ll finally be down one nuisance. Basically, she has 0 trust in the organization.
⇊ - Does your muse have many scars or lasting effects from a battle? If not, do they keep any trophies or reminders?
She’s a normal person so she scars, yeah. But she’s not the kind of person to care much about them or remember where each one is from. In terms of battle trophies, no. She collects a lot of junk but never for the purpose of remembering a fight, which she generally regards as a bad thing.
