DEVELOPMENTAL QUESTIONS | always accepting

development prompt- parents. 

"Why would you become an idol? It's a path with no future!" "Oh honey, don't be like this, please..." One'd think that having two musician parents, they'd be in full support of an artistic path or at least look kindly upon whatever he wanted to do, but no. Oh, no. If it was anything his parents couldn't stand, it was probably the current music industry. Trash, they sometimes called it. A complete and terrible deviation from the wonderful classical music that they had made their livelihoods off of. Not to mention that their own income was meager to say the least, and what about those so called celebrities? How much, or rather not much, did they make? Would it be enough to give him a comfortable life? Give them a comfortable life? For every single successful face they saw on the tv... how many more were trampled under those feet, unknown? That was what his parents told him. It wasn't a path at all, they said. Just an alleyway with a dead end in it. The possibility of success was small, too small to even be counted. He'd never amount to anything. Of course... they didn't want a son like that. They didn't raise Haneul to be a good-for-nothing, to live on his unrealistic dreams. They wanted him to be actually successful, make money, marry someone, have kids, and a good life. Something generic like that. So of course- his parents' first instinct would be refusal. But of course the story didn't just end, did it?

It took months, no, maybe it was closer to say that it was half a year. He'd sneak out to go busking, or just film videos of himself rapping or singing or whatever, even play the piano or some other instrument and show the best ones to his parents. Haneul had thought, that it he'd only just prove to them that he had some kind of talent, that he was different after all, he'd be able to convince them. It was probably the first time in his life he'd done something like that. The perfect, studious child suddenly rebelling against his life plan to persuade some absurd dream. It sounded all so unreal, so stereotypical, and yet who was to say it wasn't exactly like that? Even if so many people had done it before, he wanted to try for himself. Maybe his efforts reached them, or maybe it didn't. Because in the end, it didn't quite come to a showdown between him and his parents. His father had cracked first. Something about his son made him remember the way he had been when he was young. A hotblooded youth, still naive about the world, wanting to chase his own aspirations. It was pitiful, yes, but didn't they all walk through a road like that? Did they, really have the power to stop him from doing it? There were many long nights and early mornings spent thinking, sighing, smoking, and quiet, muttered conversations with his wife. At that point Haneul didn't know the careful consideration they had made for this. He'd been young, even younger than he was now, and still had optimistic dreams about the world. So he didn't quite understand the meaning and well-wishes behind that signature when they finally let him go. No congratulations, no heartfelt words, but the wish of him having a good, happy life was a message he wish he'd heard earlier.

she’s not really fond of either, but she prefers showers. it’s strange to imagine, but trauma can make even the smallest tasks difficult. baths remind her of time spent at lennox hill, being all but strapped into the tub and left in the cold water until the nurse decided it was time to go back to her room.

morrigan has the cutest mole on her hip, right atop of her underwear line. she has several small birthmarks, though none of them are particularly noteworthy.

Which of your characters have naturally curly hair? Graham’s turns kinda curly sometimes. It depends on the day and humidity. Maia’s hair is ‘natural’, although she usually wears it relaxed or with some kind of weave or braid through it. Vienna’s can border on curly, but she has straightened it so much and bleached it over the years it kinda just turns frizzy.

Can any of your characters cook? Oh boy. Paco owns a taco truck, and can make food worth killing over, but second to that Raf is a splendid cook, and Caoimhe’s shit is worth salivating over.  Cyrus is capable but lazy, as is Jude.  Julian is just there to eat everything.

Do any of your characters have children? Nope. Hahaha. 60 characters and counting, and not a single whiny brat. Although Cyrus has probably fathered over a thousand children in his 30,000 years on and off earth, let’s be real here.

Do any of your characters still live with their parents?  Alicia lives with her dad, Paco. She just finds it a better arrangement than living alone, mostly (and he kind of doesn’t want to let her go on her own, what with the head injury related amnesia and all).

Are any of your characters married? Jude, in some verses. Mona, pre-emancipation from her terrible husband. Raf, not officially, but Sosa is his wifey and will most likely remain that way until extremely old age, freak accident, or other supernatural forces tear them apart.

Which of your characters are single? Pretty much most of them. Though, notably, Eden is permasingle, Alex and Donna have never had a boyfriend/girlfriend/SO, and Cyrus thinks relationships can go take a long hike.

Can any of your characters play the piano? Jude, Archie, Max a little bit if she puts her head to it. Cyrus can play a mean Brahms, but you’ll never catch him at it.

Are all of your characters accepting and aware of their sexuality?   Asher is perma-struggling with his bisexuality, Syd is confused and unsure (though really not something he often thinks about when trapped in a deathmaze), Caoimhe has yet to realize she most really only likes girls, and Frankie is just in a state of permanent confusion.

Which of your characters have siblings?  Drew is a twin, Hayley is a triplet, Char and Holly may or may not have older siblings they are not aware of, and Vienna has a dead older brother. 

Where in the world do your characters live? All over, but a large majority hail from and live in the USA. -kanye shrug-

Which of your characters is most likely to consider a threesome? Discounting the characters who have had them probably on the daily, Ziggy would probably be down if weed was involved, Maddie would be up for it if all the attention was on her, and Char is totally game to do it with a married couple.

Which of your characters can drive? Quite a few. Kentucky is still learning,  it’s a steep curve kinda process. Sometimes he’ll have to stop on the side of the road to pet a chicken.

Which of your characters did well in school? Jude was pretty much straight A’s. Cody was homeschooled but passed the test required to get into MENSA.

Which of your characters went to University? Jude, but dropped out. Drew, for a splitsecond. Maia, until she got bored.  I think Maxine is legit my only college grad.

How old is your youngest character? Pip is 13/14, but the Elle Fanning I have planned will be twelve (in her human body, but she'll probably be far, far older than that in reality).

Are any of your characters rich? Hayley, Jude, and Drew are my trust fund babies. Adrian was also rich as shit, but we don’t talk about him.

Can any of your characters play the violin? Cyrus.

Which of your characters can draw/paint? Eden. Graham’s halfway decent with caricatures/cartoon drawings.

Which of your characters have never been to a concert? Probably Frankie.

How old is your oldest character? Cyrus. He's been around since the stone age, literally.

If you put all your characters in a room together, what do you think would happen? A bloodbath or an orgy, not necessarily in that order. Maybe a tea party in a small, civilized pocket of the room.

Can any of your characters sing? Jude is a singer, Caoimhe has the voice of an angel but will not sing for you, and Hayley could probably make a decent stand-in for Brody Dalle.

Which of your characters have tattoos? What do they have and where? Besides the usual suspects, Fiona has a 'this too shall pass' tattoo. Frankie has Russian prison tattoos from the convicts he was stitched together from. Sometimes he likes them, sometimes he doesn't.

What pets do each of your characters have, if any? Maddie has Mr. Death, possibly my favourite non-human character ever. Julian has three dogs, a stray, a pug, and a shine.

Which of your characters are currently single? Lots. Just ask ‘em. Some are even on Tinder.

Have you named any of your characters after someone? Who? Oh jeez. I steal names from any and everywhere. Most notably, PJ is named after PJ Harvey, Cody Allbrook after Nick Allbrook, Fiona Deakin = Jasmine Meakin (Australian dance instructor/choreographer), Mona after Mona Lisa. Ziggy's full name is Ziggy Stardust Morello, and her brother is Freddie Mercury Morello (yeah, their parents were hippie stoners).  Bradley Berkowitz = David Berkowitz, Frankie = Frankenstein. And of course, Eden Emily Anne Charlotte Fuller, whose middle names each correspond with a Brontë sister. Her parents were weird.

Are any of your characters currently a virgin? Donna, Syd, Frankie, Kentucky.

Do any of your characters have nicknames? If so, what are they? Julian had a million and one, most notably Pikachu and Spark plug.

Do any of your characters have a short attention span? If so, which? Lots. Mallory’s is notoriously short, so is Dale’s and Cali’s.

Which of your characters enjoy reading to a large extent? Frankie can read for days on end. He’s legit Belle, just lock him up in a giant library tbh.

Are any of your characters adopted? Julian and his twin Ryan was adopted.

Are any of your characters famous? Vienna is my most famous chara. She’s pretty much a Lindsay Lohan (or whoever’s big in the tabloids right now lol), always in the magazines, always gossiped about. Her parents are huge stars a la Brad and Angie, and her older brother was a pretty successful actor in his own right too (before his overdose).

Which of your characters have blue eyes? All my Jamie charas lmao.

Do any of your characters have red hair? Archie is a ginger and so is Cali.

“I’ve had mainly three parental figures in my life. The first one was of course my biological mom, the Karankawa tribe. I dunno how but after all the years I’ve spent away from her (the last time I saw her was in 1720 I think), my memory has become sorta fuzzy. What I do remember is that my mom was an incredibly caring person, both to me and her people. She would put others before herself a lot. Since I was her only child I was also able to spend a lot more time with her. She could also be very overprotective as well. The Karankawa treated their children very well, and she was no exception towards me. As a result of all this my memory of her is mostly positive. One regret I’ve always had is that I really wish I could’ve seen her one more time before her tribe went extinct and in turn when she ‘disappeared’ in the late 1800s. It’s just that, like I mentioned before, my memory became rather fuzzy about her as the years went by, and it was ever worse back then with all that had been goin’ on.”

“The second person was my biological dad. If ya thought my memory of my mom was fuzzy then ya can bet it’s even worse for him. What I do remember though is that he was a Spanish human who came here in the Narváez Expedition, which ended up bein’ shipwrecked off the coast Galveston, where my mom’s tribe lived. He only stayed with the Karankwa for a few years so I didn’t spend much time around him which is the main reason as to why I barely remember anything about him.”
