Please tell me how one simple scene both humanized them and made them vastly more likable? I have to fight him?! Like, my dude, my guy, there’s a gun and two guys, yes you have to fight them. Flint was suddenly the most relatable person in the show lol.
Real talk, the entire episode framed them both a bit differently, so even though they are still the same men, you walk away giving them more of a pass.
To quote one of the greatest show-runners ever, Jon Steinberg about the Black Sails finale -- "There’s a way to have tragedy without it being oppressively awful". More shows need to understand this. Wallowing in misery isn't "great storytelling".
god i love jon steinberg so fucking much
this man is gay and european
Each week, I am planning to randomize this blog’s list of followers and pick one to send a little love!
This week’s random follower is... @char7! ♥️
Char is someone that I see in the notifications of this blog all the time, and their support means the world. Char was also the first person to ever send an ask to this blog with good vibes for the show/hopes for season two. They inspired a tag just for those types of posts and I hope we get tons more during this long hiatus. Getting that ask brightened my whole day because it gave me a chance to talk about this show I love very much. Thanks for being part of this lovely fandom, Char! You are appreciated!
Make sure to go send Char some love on their blog — either send them an ask, reply to or reblog this post — spread those good vibes!
If you want a chance to get a little random love in the future, make sure you’re following this blog! Every Wednesday, I’ll do one of these posts :)

Please write slashy John & Don (Lost In Space) fic. I'd greatly appreciate it. :D
I am joyfully prepared to do so. But when the hell is season 2?! It must be close… I did write A John/Don fic a while back. It’s on ao3. :)
I wanted to say thank you for the amazing podcast on fandom. The discussions of what fandom means resonated so much with me. And it also challenged me on some of my own "issues" with things in fandom that I didn't really notice I had until y'all talked about them. Please, keep up this awesome podcast!
Thank you for listening and writing to us! It really means a lot to know we’re being heard and that anything we’ve got to say is resounding with other people. In the episode, I think Trinity, Laura, and I each had moments where we admitted our own blunders and past issues. I don’t think any of us would’ve been able to talk about those things in the past tense if we hadn’t been challenged at one point or another to look inwardly and really dissect things, so I really appreciate your transparency about that! What a great thing to be in any way associated to a moment of growth or really introspective thought- especially when we’re talking about fandom, which is too often under-valued/trivialized. We’ve definitely got more to go as far as the podcast goes! I hope you enjoy our next episode, which’ll set us back on track to focusing on the series. Season two is so phenomenal, I hope we can do good by it in our discussions! Thanks again for reaching out!! - Nia
char7 replied to your post “ladies, gents and everybody else, let’s talk about Billy Bones and…”
Billy/Vane would’ve been a power couple. They’d have ruled Nassau.
very true. just like with flinthamilton the power couple formula applies: one very capable and dedicated human puppy who nobody can help but adore plus one disaster gay with great hair
