Through out life we all experience trials & tribulations. We also experience the growth from each trial. My journey of trials began in 1995 with teenage pregnancy followed by a second child and marriage in 2000 which ultimately led to divorce in 2008. An engagement in 2012 that was called off in 2014. My first born graduating high school despite the odds of teen pregnancy in 2014. A new marriage in 2016 which has led to focusing on my own personal dreams goals in 2018. Where Chapter 38 was born!
Each event of my life carries a multitude of events that only one could imagine. Therefore in my journey to developing a logo & concept I figured the logo needed to represent the details of the trials and the progression the trials led me into.
The 38 being centered or the focal point represents the beginning. The roots sprouting from the bottom of the number 38 represents the many highs and lows during the journey. However being planted no matter the trial to move on and pick up beyond pain, hurt, humility & the like. Which has grown & developed into the huge branches extended at the top of the number. The branches are huge and strong understanding that every success has a story and that there’s a bottom or root to the glamour. This logo has a few upgrades to be made but I was very pleased at seeing the vision come to light. My son Aj drafted the concept I had in mind and sent to a designer to play around with and this is seeing the process develop.
Everyone has roots, everyone has a future and everyone should have a focal point where the beginning and the future meet somewhere in between.....

Not sure what white wine to drink in the fall? Try this white Chenin Blanc from Cape-town, South Africa. The blend is amazing, smooth & fruit finish. One of our favorites! Thank me later. September 11th - Happy Ethiopian New Year! Celebrate the culture with a class of Ethiopian Tej wine! Insanely tasteful! Have you tasted a glass of tej? #Chapter38wine #chapter38comingsoon #theculturespeaks #travelingthevineyards #ethiopia #ethiopianwines #ethiopianwinery https://www.instagram.com/p/Bnl-sYDBkCV/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1uose2i0hf6lm
A harvest season tradition! Live entertainment, food & lots of wine! These Black Spanish Grapes were cool to the feet and were perfect just for stomping! I love the souvenir shirts with wine feet! Harvest season isn’t over! I’ll be stomping all over Texas!
Let’s start with taking the complexity out of reading wine labels.
1. European wine labels (old world) have a tendacy to provide more detail as shown above.
It’s region and year of vintage are the most important articles when reading wine labels. This provides the level of oak or even alcohol content. With an old world wine label you will also see a difference in the shape of the bottle. Allowing indication to the type of grape the wine is instead of labeling it to the wine bottle itself.
2. Non European Wine labels (new world) provide less content to a label and instead provide basic year, name & grape type on the front. The back of the bottle is where American labels provide more detailed information to the wine such as alcohol content, its bottler or even import.
As you indulge more in wine, reading labels will become second nature. Although it may seem hard to understand labels at first, its fun! I found it easier to read European wine labels because all the information that was important to me was located on the front. I found that the region played a key factor in my decision making then front there I could determine how much alcohol content I wanted lol!!
Initially new world table wines were my go to and most favorite when I was on the go and just needed a simple bottle for the night. Central coast wine are my all time favorite! If you can just stick to the region of preference the rest will come easy!
