âWhy did you get a new suit?â
Cuphead looked at Cala who innocently tried to make conversation.
In two days heâll attend the âblack velvet eventâ so he got a new suit for it. No one knew he was going, and heâd like to keep it that way for now.
âI got invited to some big shot event, and Iâve been bored so Iâm goinâ Calaâs expression soured. âOh I hate those, I canât believe youâre actually going! Has your life really been that boring that you resulted to torturing yourself?â Cup laughed at that.
She was right, he hates these types of parties. He had to do this though. He had to. For that little boy that thought he damned himself and his brother to hell.
âItâs such a shame this beautiful suit will be used for such a purposeâ Cala fake whined petting the suit apologetically. âI wanna say Iâll wear it again for somethin else but I unfortunately wonâtâ he will be burning this suit as soon as he gets home.
This suit will have a specific angel rune embroidered ďżźinto it so they know where everyone is. To prevent stealing and unwanted visitors coming in. So this suit is going bye-bye.
âDid you start having have nightmares again?â Cuphead did not want to have this conversation.
âYesâ he answered truthfully, feeling no reason to lie.
Cala frowned, but she didnât offer tips or advice. Instead, she looked him in the eyes, and for a split second, he feared sheâd turn him into stone.
âCuphead. Whatever youâre planning to do, youâll regret it. But I know I canât stop you, so make sure you donât do anything too stupid.â
Thatâs it? No questions? No threats? Did she even plan to tell mugs?
âI wonât say anything to your brother.â Well⌠Thatâs reassuring. âFor nowâ never mind.
âOh! I recently met someone! Her name is Holly May and sheâs a college student-â And just like that Cala returned to talking about her life like nothing ever happened. Like no words of warning were given.
Thatâs what he liked about her.
The Conversation switched to the topic of their wedding, she had the same look of love and affection In her eyes as Mugs whenever he talked about their wedding. It was set in the summer of next year, so heâll have to endure few more months of this. Not that he minded of course.
Cuphead wondered if heâd bring anyone to the wedding. Mugs will definitely let him but he didnât have many options, except a few flings and he doubted anyone would wanna come. Maybe heâll bring his new pet.
No-no. He wouldnât have enough time to train them to not cause a scene. That and Mugman would have his head if he brought some demon lord thereâŚ
Their conversation came to an end as Cuphead waved her goodbye as he turned toward his house, normally he wouldâve walked her home but if he did that then heâd be stuck having a conversation with his brother and heâs too tired right now.
He fiddled with his keys in front of his door for a bit to let whoever was in his house know that he was back.
So much for just relaxing.
When he opened the door he was greeted by an angel. Sally.
âWelcome home Cuphead dear.â She was a toned curvy woman with hair the color of autumn leaves and a âregularâ always having someone to get rid of and was in no way cheap. He quite liked her, which is why he didnât put a hole in her head for breaking into his house.
âSally! Hello, you have another job for me?â Stars he hoped so, he might be dead tired and anxious for the âpartyâ but if she isnât here for a job. Sheâs here for a warning. And she loves riddles.
She shook her head, ah damn it. âSorry, sweetie I do not.â Please just tell him straight up, please just tell him straight up, please just tel- âThere has been an accident with the demon âlivestockââ she spat the last word, she didnât like what they were doing to the demons but she understood it. But That wasnât what Cup was thinking about right now.
âIs anyone hurt?â He asked, she gave him a look knowing he wasnât referring to the demons. âOnly some bruised egosâshe waved her hand dismissively.
Sally sighed looking at him with furry and sorrow âi wanted to stop you from going but, I think it will do you good if wentâ
That wasâŚ. Surprising.. She was against him going from the start, telling him that none of the demons they captured were the ones that hurt him. Like he didnât already know that, and it didnât matter, they were still debtors. And they deserved to pay.
So to hear her say that was suspicious, to say the least, he didnât know how to react. Maybe she finally got it? Maybe she finally understood how much all of them hurt people? How much he was hurt?
âOâŚKay?â He spoke not knowing how to respond.
âRemember. If you donât buy them someone else willâ she glared at him, âyea?⌠thatâs how these things go?â Sally rolled her eyes walking towards the door âDonât do anything too stupid â She squeezed his shoulder as she exited his house.
That was the second time he got told that.
