One Piece Chapter 937 Review
What an entertaining chapter this was. There are more setups, new interesting details, and a really fun action. The first page confirms Chopper and his unusual comrades have set sail to rescue Luffy. Itās so weird to see Big Mom fits in with the crowd like she was always a good person. She even earned a name, O-Lin. Chopperās fear made me laugh but can you blame him really. One memory return and itās all downhill. God speed, Chopper.
Luffy isnāt just beating down his opponents; heās training his Haki. I donāt know what Queen is doing, but this is benefiting Luffy than anything. Too bad heās blinded enough to see it for he has tons of food to devour. Oh well, at least we can expect an improvement when he challenge Kaido again; unless another one-shot is in order.
The real highlight and the main focus is the conflict with Zoro and Gyukimaru. Itās interesting and a lot of fun. To begin with, Gyukimaru elaborates the legacy of Ryuuma in which amazes me on how much new info we are receiving for a dead guy, let alone the undead. It goes to show you how much detail Oda puts into the lore despite one could have vanished without missing anything. Itās worth mentioning that Wano Country was once considered as the Country of Gold. Thatās a flashback I would like to see.
Ryuuma was a legend that showed the world that Samurai exist in Wano. It is even said that he cut down a dragon from the sky. Thatās believable if you were to ask me. I wonder if that story ties in with Kaido and others that relate to said dragon. Donāt count it out with Oda writing. The most interesting takeaway is Shusui and the concept of Black Blades. It appear to address that Black Blades come from Haki, Armament to be exact. It makes sense on why itās black in the first place. Remember Luffyās Gear Four design. Also, Mihawkās sword is black, so it connects. I suppose it needs a clarification, but itās interrupted by a lady who needs help.
I believe that lady is Komurasaki, carrying O-Toki, who is laughing at danger. I am almost certain with that injury of hers. If so, how did she survive from that supposedly fatal slash. Either this is a hoax by them, or she alone managed to fool everyone. A new challenger appears named Kamazo the Killer, who has a really cool design with those two scythes. Zoro agrees to help for food and drinks (of course) and we got ourselves a really damn good fight.
It does feel like a long time since we last see Zoro in action, but does it feel really good. Oda does a really good job on the sequences. I was actually clinging on during the fight. Itās exciting. Itās also pretty funny since the beginning with Zoro because Gyukimaru keeps attacking him when heās distracted; every time screaming, āWide open!ā I couldnāt stop laughing at every moment he does it; ironically, keeps interrupting the narrative flow. Technically, itās not unfair when they are in battle, which sort of make Zoro as whiny, but still, itās just too funny. āWide open!ā
I donāt know the battle ends there, but if so, it sure ended in a badass way. It was cringing when Kamazo stabs him badly with his scythe, but Zoro wasnāt going to be the victim of needing rescue. He takes that scythe, use it like a sword, converting him as three-sword user, and strikes him with Onigiri. I am reminded why he is my favorite. Again, I donāt know the battle is over, but it was fun while lasted.
Overall, this was a very entertaining chapter with plenty of new details and setups. Big Mom and others are on their way, which is terrifying, Luffy is training his Haki, so his round 2 wonāt be as embarrassing, and Zoro has a really fun battle with Kamazo. The art is pretty solid throughout, especially a really cool shot at the end. All the pieces are coming together and I canāt wait for the next development.
Wide open!
my favorite trend in recent Detective Conan chapters is that after 900 chapters itās clear that Megure is just like
so
fuckin
done.
