Thanks for informing me! There sure is a lot to chew on here lmao, wow.
like hello??? idk what else to say about this except 👀👀👀
The godhand manifesting just to point and laugh at Griffith was hilarious and I'm into it. A little wild that this is how it's revealed that they and Griff aren't allies or respectful coworkers jointly doing fate's bidding or whatever lol, but I'll happily take it, because I was hoping the Godhand and NGriff wouldn't be aligned. And I do genuinely love Griffith being essentially framed as someone who's just closing his eyes and pushing down on the accelerator. I don't care at this point if Griffith's dream is just going to be un-nuanced Bad and Wrong if we get Griffith emotionally unraveling to compensate. (Though lol at the progressivism vs reactionaries framing. I may not care anymore but that doesn't make it good writing or politics if it's a sincere allegory.)
Also the Godhand have that greek chorus vibe that taunting spirits and ghosts and manifestations of darkness etc have in Berserk, so yk, it reads like they're voicing Griffith's own deep-seated doubts. And that last bit, calling "what [Griffith] desired" a prison, is so good with the visual framing.
Like Casca might be the literal prisoner but the dream is also Griffith's prison. Especially love the line drawn between him and Casca/everyone else up there. This chapter really seems to frame Griffith keeping Casca around in the same light as Griffith inviting Rickert to rejoin him, ie he's a fucking wreck deep down, subconsciously trying to recreate the past but unable to.
Sonia and Schierke continue to intrigue me and I'm looking forward to them eventually meeting face to face. I hope it's not just Sonia being a True Believer who does a 180 and views Schierke as nothing but an enemy, but I'll wait and see.
Finally, the art seems a little messier in this chapter, and in all honesty I don't mind that at all. Like sure, I'd love to see how Miura, especially 2000s era Miura, would've drawn Griffith here, but I've accepted that we don't get to have that, and I don't hate how he does look? Yeah it's like, blatantly sinister vibes once again, but I dig the day-after eyeliner look he's got going right now lol, and in general he looks a little worn down? He has a visual appearance that seems to reflect some emotional turmoil, is what I'm saying, and I dig that. The more overt emotions on his face might be subtler in Miura's art, but I don't mind seeing him getting pissed off.
Anyway yeah, those are my initial thoughts. Admittedly I do find it easier to focus on the positive because I have low expectations right now lol, but I did really enjoy this one.
