My lord, you have been in Paris for a year now, what has changed for you since your return from exile?
The feeling of being back with my own people has been a great emotion. The people of Ajaccio and Paris have been very welcoming and I'm grateful to them. Now I can devote myself fully to my public and political responsibilities.
You have been the head of the imperial house since you were just eight years old. Your grandfather appointed you as his heir...
I'm proud to be a Simparte, and like my grandfather, I believe that my name means progress above all. To serve the Francesim is the duty of every Napoleon. My predecessors were modern men and I follow their traces as a requirement.
How did you feel the day you received this dignity?
I have always been very close to my grandfather. His death still evokes a deep sadness in me. I remember all the imperial ceremonies in Belgisim around this handover. As a child, I didn't understand all the subtleties of such a role, but I knew that it would change my life.
Your father never received the title of head of house, how did he feel about his son receiving it to his detriment?
My father is a straightforward person who has always had his own view of politics. He was undoubtedly affected by it, but did not oppose it. Today, he works with the Belgisim royal family and is happy about it. For my part, I wanted to return to my country.
And what about your mother? What did she inspire you to do? After all, she left you the Bourbon legacy...
My mother has always supported me, and taught me that I should bring honour to my family through merit and modesty. My name does not make me the person I am: it inspires me and it is up to me to continue the work of this prestigious heritage.
Do you intend to get involved in Francesim?
I have worked a lot in exile, I have observed the strengths and weaknesses of our country since my studies in various foreign countries. I am concretely committed to Francesim since I joined the army, and I intend to bring our country into the modern world. Many universal values are - knowingly or unknowingly - forgotten by our politicians.
What kind of politics would you pursue?
I want to do good, and I have never hidden my imperial pretensions. I will soon be touring Francesim to listen to our citizens and bring them my solutions: a liberal and social empire, which goes beyond the divisions of republican politics. The modernity of the two previous empires inspires me and I hope will inspire the French.
Do you think the Republic is outdated?
I think so. Like everything else, it has its strengths and weaknesses. But today, it is sitting on its achievements and politicians only think about the next elections. Everything is thought of for the elections, there is no more sincerity, only the lure of power and corruption. The Emperor is an independent, modern, pragmatic and immortal leader and administrator.
