#TheEarthisFlat is a phrase that was popularized by sports media when #KyrieIrving stated as such in a podcast called @roadtrippin with JR and Channing, #RichardJefferson and #ChanningFrye, back in February. I highly recommend listening to the entire podcast (Episode 7). In it you will hear Kyrie's full response which displays his exceptionally mature viewpoints on the importance of #selfeducation #knowledgesharing and becoming a unified human race that is determined to work together towards some sort of #universaltruth regardless of race, gender, sexuality, political beliefs, ethnicity, skin color, and other perceived differences between us. I was floored. Shortly after the podcast was released #Shaq came to his defense and stated on a separate radio show: "What you see, what you hear and what you read mold your mind and if you ain't in control of those things then you a slave." A slave to complacency • Do Kyrie Irving, Shaquille O'Neal and other prominent athletes who say they are #FlatEarthers actually believe the planet we're currently standing on is a flat disc rather than a sphere? In the grand scheme of things it absolutely doesn't matter. A "Flat Earther" to me is someone who enjoys investigating what they perceive as reality and embracing differing viewpoints that test their unique worldview. Science is based in questioning and testing the #scientificmethod to determine if new discoveries are worth sharing. Imagination fuels those inquiries. What if the Earth is flat? Or what if our universe is a hologram? Or maybe the #solarsystem is in a snow globe that a baby alien is shaking right now enthralled with all the colors and glittering stars? Everything around us, even nature in some regards, has been formed via human imagination. Let it thrive. Let it direct the course of society and build stronger connections between people in the world. "Hey, it sure would be interesting to find out the Earth is flat after all..." - "Yes it would. I don't know if I agree concretely with that statement but tell me more. Why do you believe that could even be possible?" I met Shaquille O'Neal because I wore a shirt that says "The Earth is Flat". Anything is possible... (at Planet Earth)
