On one hand, I feel like the community(?) of people interested in Jonestown tends to focus on Jim Jones moreso than the fascinating social web of his Inner Circle, and the fascinating lives of those who survived as well as those who did not. I think the other people are extremely interesting as well, especially the Inner Circle (aka Jim Jones' harem/coven of white ladies who spied on people for him).
On the other hand there is so much more information on Jim Jones, especially his earlier years when compared to the Inner Circle & the rest, and due to there being so much more to learn, there is much more to be interested by, so I understand the disparity.
I also think perpetrator focus tends to be common in broader "true crime" circles, of course.
