Trans people are also getting surgeries from other places where it is cheaper, but the conditions are not always the best in these clinics. I was also informed about how trans gendered people have higher rates of depression and anxiety, and the reason is because they do not feel comfortable in this society. I realized the importance of making society more gender natural and that medical providers and doctors have to understand the importance of using the right pronouns, and how if a pronoun used wrong that affects a person's confidence.
The panel was very interesting like I said before it informed me a lot about how trans gendered people suffer discrimination and how simple things like filling medical forms can be difficult. The doctor in the panel talked about how she has been training her residents to be more conscious about gender preferences, but she committed an error by calling one of the panelist by the wrong pronoun. Which is something I found very ironic. To me it is clear that the medical providers are doing an effort to help transgender people but a lot of training has to be done still. To me it seems like they just say they are going to change their policies but when it comes to simple things that are very important like calling someone by their preferred pronoun they do not follow through.
One of the panelist named Capris was very bright and I really liked her view and I can say that she is the closes out of all with the transgender community. She does a lot of the activism and she speaks the same language as them. Her idea of putting medical language in a way everybody can understand is very good. In my opinion there is nothing wrong with being professional but using simple language. People in general not just trans gendered people should feel comfortable with the language medical providers and doctors use. They should be able to understand it and relate to it. I am believe that a big step for changing the system is by changing the language that is used. That would make trans gendered people feel more comfortable and they would seek medical assistance at the right places.
