“Liliana, must we do this in public?” Kurogiri stammered hurriedly. It was totally unnecessary and felt like she was manipulating him into something of her own design. He pulled her back along the way they were supposed to be walking, taking an alternative path to stay out of the main roads. Until he figured out what her game was, he could not be too careful.

He’s not sure how she does it, but she sneaks up on him. Not only that, but as soon as he notices her, he gets the unshakable feeling she’s been following him for a few paces at the least.

And, oh, how he notices her. It’s a fluke, really -- a fortuitous change in the winds, bringing him downwind of her for the first time since she’d approached. And the smell nearly makes him vomit. It’s faint, but unmistakable, and it sets all his hair on end, and it sets a stiffness in his jaw that’s visible in the moonlight, and it makes him want to run.

Against his better judgement, he doesn’t.

“What’s with you, lady? You the grim reaper or somethin’?” 

“Hello.” Another customer and Kurogiri quickly swooped over to greet her, still carrying the glass that he was still cleaning. He enjoyed the efficiency of the work, finishing each order as soon as it was taken. Always having the glasses clean in a timely manner. Thankful it was a slow day at the moment so he could take his time with the orders. “May I get you a drink?” He was not a perfectionist but the concept pleased him.
