“What? You’re not even going to guess?” there’s an oddly peaceful smile on Erik’s face as he lowers himself down, a calmness that he has no right to carry. Perhaps it’s an attempt at changing his demeanor, at making himself a bit more palatable to the mutant before him.

Blustering on about revolution and civil rights only worked some of the time, after all.

“I’m here to have a chat. Nothing more.”

mutant rallies, a strange man appearing to individual mutants, none of it came as a surprise to jack - already being told about the mysterious being who now spoke before him, it wasn’t surprise that quipped his tongue but perhaps annoyance ; he’d been at work before this, hours spent in a morgue can do strange wonders to the mind - all jack had hoped for was a peaceful night in. 

greys follow him slightly before focusing on closing his front door and hanging up his jacket and bag, jack then stands in front of the other with pursed lips. 

“Wit’ you, if I had th’ choice.” It was an instinctive answer, one he barely had to think about. It would’ve been almost cute had he not been the man to say it. “Wouldn’t care what we did, but that’s where I’d wanna spend it, aye? Doin’ whatever ye wanna do.”

“Doin’ washin’ up, laundry, cleanin’. Sittin’ around doin’ nowt but listenin’ ta th’ radio an’ readin’ th’ newspaper. So long as I was wit’ you it’d be grand. All of it.”

“Joseph Rogers, if I didn’t know better, I’d wager you’ve a romantic streak.” Reaching across the little kitchen table, she encloses one of his larger hands into both of her own. On instinct she turns his hand over, starts to gently knead and pull the thenar muscles she knows get sore from writing, the lumbricals to ease his clenching fists, the palmar interosseus, all the bones and fibers in that hand well-known and long beloved.

“I got it..” she repeated for the 5th time, her hands busy on the belt around her hips. When she moved- so did he before she finally stopped and looked up at Bucky “Bucky..” she almost whines as she reaches up to hold his face still “I got it.. I’ll keep my ear piece at all time..” a smile breaks across her lips before letting go of him.

“I got this Buck.. I know I’m ready..”

If only she knew how wrong she was, she would have not gone alone and now there she was in a pool of her own blood. “She’s in an amazing state- I’m sure she won’t die while conducting our research.. we should get going..” She could hear them, although she wasn’t able to look at them- not when her focus was on the ear piece that was a couple of feet away from her. Charlotte tried her best to call out to him but the shock was enough to keep her voice quiet-

“But we’ve been sat here for an hour and a half, sir.” She whispers, flipping through the magazine she has in her hands. Mel’s been reading it as slowly as she can, but she’s become so bored. She’s halfway through the magazine, and she’s read every single page twice over just to try and drag it out. “I don’t think he’s going to show.” She finally says, glancing at her watch. 

     September’s looking at him like he’s stupid, it’s all over her expression. He’s HELLA amusing.

          “Aw, PEOPLE listen to you, hah? ‘s been a long time since anyone’s told you no, then. I guess ‘m jus’ not PEOPLE, yeah? Cos I don’t really feel like LISTENING.” She replies, crossing her arms over her chest. Watching this grown-ass man LOSE HIS SHIT like this, it’s HARD for her to not burst out LAUGHING. Even if he’s TRYING to hide it, she’s still one of the most observant people anyone could encounter. He isn’t hiding SHIT from her. When he brings up the fact that she’s a CHILD and oh, yeah, THAT’S why she should listen, she rolls her eyes.

          “Oh, DEAR! I’m a CHILD? Really??? Hadn’t noticed! I guess SINCE you say that, I should jus’ listen...” She trails her voice off, faking a sincere and pondering expression for about a SECOND before it snaps into a toothy GRIN.
