Chainfire - Terry Goodkind
Re-Read: June 2017
Okay so this book starts the end game of the Sword of Truth series, and truly the last three books could easily combine into one big book. But obviously for ease of reading and profit margins it was divided into three. Chainfire is the worst of them, but that is because it’s a book that consists of the beginning of a larger book, so I find it really doesn’t follow the standard broad strokes of story telling, and is instead just a lot of set-up.
I find reading this one annoying simply because I cannot stand Richard being the position of the only person who remembers Kahlan. Everyone things he’s incredibly crazy. Which, as the reader, you know he’s not. But it wears on me to read the same disbelief in the other characters over and over and over again. It takes a whole for the book to start to pick up and for pieces to start falling into place, so it’s a bit annoying. But the ending is pretty great with Richard pulling out the receipts for everyone haha.
