Yesterday, my wife and I travelled over to Normanton On Soar in Nottinghamshire, UK to meet up with old friends and enjoy some decent food and pleasant company. I had never been to the village before, and it was both quiet and picturesque. The 13th century church was a real gem of a place, one could sense the history embedded in its walls, and the minds eye was directed to what was called the Leper door, when people who were inflicted with that disease, had to enter the church away from the main congregation. We also had a squint at the old but still in existence ‘Chain Ferry’, - a manually operated small boat pulled across the narrow width of the River Soar, linking Nottinghamshire with Leicestershire. The Food was excellent at The Plough Inn, I had the large ‘Sausage & Mash’ which was delicious.
Great to know places like this still exist, as I said it was our first visit, it wont be our last.
