like I’m gonna say this and idc how unpopular of an opinion it is but it truly actually pisses me off how Barbie, fucking Barbie from Mattel, the doll, which reinforced gender stereotypes and beauty standards in multiple generations of little girls fucking BARBIE is now being upheld and appraised as a fucking feminist symbol.

And regarding my last RB like yeah actually I do think it’s a huge slap in the fucking face of all the hardworking, phenomenal, truly skilled women playing in the PWHL that their organization chose to represent them by putting a silly little pink costume on a fucking BARBIE doll instead of insisting that these women get the recognition they deserve by using their likeness. And it’s great that some of the money is going to support a charity to help young girls play hockey but I also think more young girls would be interested in playing hockey if shit like Barbie was never invented to begin with idk though that’s just my lame ass opinion.

#maybe if especially pisses me off cause I know Tim Horton did a toy series where they made like #mini action figures of like Real NHL players #so I’m like why didn’t they do that with the PWHL #and maybe the answer to that is that Barbie is recognizable even to girls who don’t play hockey #and will therefore yield a higher profit margin #cause mind you it’s only $5 from every doll sold being donated #dolls are $35 CAD #so that’s still $30 bucks for a doll that probably costs $5 to make #cha-ching #so like yeah I guess to me it seems like a shitty ass money grab #and not like this cutesy empowering feminist thing idk #also I don’t want any losers in my inbox talking about Barbie was invented by a women #I really really need you people to grasp that fact that women made/women owned DOESNT = feminist/feminism
