One other invention aside from the earlier mentioned toilet that we probably don't think twice about using everyday is the light bulb. 

Another invention of the time was the telephone, patented by Alexander Graham Bell.

While the articles were the original plan, that innovative idea evolved into something much more, something that made the United Stated into what it is today.  The Constitution was finished by 1788 and is still in effect today.

In July of 1776 John Dickinson had drafted a huge step in forming a new country.  he had written up the Articles of Confederation for the Congress.  While it was changed considerably to benefit the states.

Many of our favorite drinks had just started appearing in 1798!  Hard to believe they had gotten their start so very long ago.

Throughout the states, new forms of government were put into play.  Some of the states had implemented a unicameral (single governing body) assemblies, while a majority had implemented bicameral (a two-housed legislature) assembly.
