maggie's 19, she's young and in love, she's a little bit stupid with it, but who can blame her when the guy is her second boyfriend? plus he's got a tragic backstory and he's actively fighting against his evil family every step of the way. did we mention 19 and stupid in love?

phoebe, by contrast, is a grown-ass woman with years of experience both in love and in magic. she's watched her sisters fall in love with and be betrayed by evil men (jeremy, bane), she's had her own doomed thing with clay, she's not a stranger to these things. not to mention she knows that cole's been trying to kill them for months by the time she finds out that he's a demon. he's put her sisters in danger countless times. not to mention all the other innocents he's endangered in that time. and yet she finds out that he's balthezar and decides that none of it is more important than her personal feelings.

it just doesn't seem to work as well, is all

okay so one of my biggest gripes with season one specifically is how fast it moves i mean like by the second episode we already have the Harbinger of the Apocalypse like woah baby girl let's hit the breaks for a 22 episode season i feel like we really don't do enough meandering i would have really loved to see them fumble around with their powers more so Sorry Harry!! but you're getting dialed back a little. maybe a lot.

i get that i actually kinda have the opposite opinions i really wish we all saw the sisters get more into hand to hand combat ik shannen was definitely into all that esp considering she did a lot of her own stunts so that probably wasn't sure intentional as they set off with prue's character but honestly its still very in character and quite frankly i loved that prue and phoebe went to martial arts classes together i just wished they would have dragged piper w them!! i would have love to see her throw a couple hands you know like uh oh it's and upper level demon so her freezing power doesn't work! oh no he's threatening her POP! knuckles to the nose baby! woulda loved to see it. and while i'm in the process of not answering the ask really i'd also love to bitch that we didn't do enough with phoebe's fighting!! the levitation was a really nice touch, sure, and we saw it added well in early s4, but like. like. you have an entire genre of film (kung fu movies) where if the fighting gets cool enough the people literally gain like levitation you know?? not to mention her premonition power! like!! that is literally so useful in a fight and i wish we would have seen her use it like a spidey sense or alternately win a fistfight while blindfolded just to emphasize how much control she gained over her power

and still not really answering your question but kinda it really bugged me how in the reboot in s2 when they did the power swap and all that how macy kinda just ended up parrotting mel's freezing power w her telekinesis?? like, granted, when mel was doing it in s1, she was freezing time (unlike piper who froze molecules) and honestly i liked that distinction and the development of the power but then once they switched to molecular acceleration/deceleration for mel (boooooooooo such a downgrade time powers were So Fucking Cool and now it's like. she can make things hot or cold. like. no!! they should have just gone full molecular immobilization + combustion and then in a moment of her honing her skills ideally aided by science macy macy's like you're not stopping time anymore some holding particles in place, so, instead of stoppping them, just slow them down, and idk maybe maggie adds something w her emotional placement power idk what they dubbed it they shot themselves in the foot calling telepathy empathy bc what she was doing earlier was clearly telepathy and what she was doing later was an extention of empathy) BUT THAT'S NOT THE POINT!!! the point is, macy, using her telekinesis, could just hold a victim in place, using telekinesis. which is fine and all if ur like a telekinetic or whatever but like so annoying when one sister could already (used to) do that!!

and as much as i love jordan/maggie and have been waiting to see more of them (and more of jordan pls god he's the only male character i give a shit about on this show) my fear with next season is we're gonna focus on them, jordan's journey as a whitelighter and how maggie helps him with that and harry's grief will of course take so much more space than it should and it will leave mel to do what exactly?? and the thing is it's not like mel doesn't want love or a serious relationship it's pretty clear to me that mel does want that but something always fucking gets in the way. the writers cannot let he be happy and at this point i gotta ask what's the point of having one of your leads be a lesbian if she's the only one out of the main cast who is not allowed to find healthy and lasting love? you got two het pairings and they have drama and obstacles but it's never as definitive and/or ass backwards as it is with mel and i am TIRED

like she really couldn't exist in an inbetween she sort of had no choice but to pick and she picked evil and tbh i much preferred their attempt at redeeming her than whatever the fuck they tried to do with parker. parker was meant to be like cole and i know this fandom loves to act like cole was evil all the time but he was not. the first half of season 4 and the last half of season 3 this man was TRYING his hardest. he was tempted so many times and didn't stray

idk which user said it but they really said it best, cole was like a magnet for evil most of the time like anytime he was getting his shit together and was ready to commit to being good not just for phoebe but trying to do good some shit would happen. he was willing to be a mortal, stripped of his powers and the source bullshit happened. parker on the other hand tried for two milliseconds before succumbing to evil like he clearly did not love maggie enough

tbh like let's call a spade a spade parker and maggie will Never be cole and phoebe i honestly don't like the i am going to murder you and in order to do that i am going to pretend to be the perfect man for you plotline bc like while yes cole was falling in love w phoebe phoebe was falling in love w the facade you know However that plotline? has so much more sex appeal than whatever parker and maggie were doing. i mean. hello?? holding a dagger up while you're kissing her, you have to plunge it into her heart, but you can't you love her too much, like???? like!!!!!!!! blasting him across the room w your psychic vagina fucking wishes. bc imo the like real sex appeal of cole and honestly the romantic one too was that he was like Evil he's like i am a bad person and i do not love until he meets phoebe and suddenly he's like woah. hey now. like?? that's so much better than i'm half demon but i'm fighting it and i'm a momma's boy and she's using her science to cure me uwu like that's cute and all but then is he even really a demon? it's like you said like i think idk i might be reaching but it makes him succumbing to evil so much weaker bc cole was fighting against a century of doing shady shit parker was never full evil and then "fell in love" (??) maggie but then still chose to go full evil not a past he was falling on bc he was scared (confession: been a hot minute since i've watched s1 but like. i am confident he was never really his father's right hand man that was hunter's job, the much more fun demon who we killed off too soon) instead parker just chose to be evil bc like ??? he did??? idk like why even. he was poorly written. full stop.

anyways! abi! i will say introducing her mother really was like. thee explanation. like what's that one post like daddy issues will make you like a people pleaser and awkward at parties but mommy issues will make u a psychopath? yeah. that. parker & abi. still like. i feel like they should have gone quirky morally gray villain than try to do the full i see the error of my ways and am good now because like. idk like what exactly was her redemption. like what was the catalyst. like tcos being like hey! ur being bad. bc like. i'm pretty sure when you are slicing open a dead body so u can scrawl a message in blood. u know you're being bad. you know that is a choice you're making. like. i don't fully understand her change of heart. i think i would have liked it more if she remained her pseudo feminist gay rights evil overlord who had a very terse relationship w tcos like. like they weren't even friends but idk maybe macy did some magic w her demonic powers like tying the charmed ones to abi so if any of them were to die then abi would die too but unfortunately that's vice versa so they can't kill her w/o risking killing one of them (also if we did this plotline the writers would actually have to listen and work with mads instead of just saying don't let the door hit you on your way out)
