if theoretically bug and steve survive what headcanons do you have for their future?

HOORAY SOMETHING HAPPY !!

if steve does end up going on the roadtrip he talks about in season 4, bug joins. she defers for a year from nyu and simply enjoys being alive with steve, and its this roadtrip that truly defines their future together.

bug becomes a social worker, using her psych knowledge to specifically help children in clinics and abusive homes. shes amazing at it. each night steve kisses away the horrors she sees, and she cant do this job without him.

they move to michigan. close enough to their families, but far enough for independence and escaping the hellshow thats hawkins. they enjoy the nature and scenery, living close to the lakes. its lovely.

they take a long time to get married, much to everyones surprise. it isnt that they dont want to, they do !!! but they enjoy being each others boyfriend/girlfriend in a cheesy way. they savor being this part of one another. in their eyes, since theyre getting married, they want to be each others last bf/gf for as long as possible and when they do get married, they savor this new change even more.

kids come shortly after being married. both agreed that they wouldnt have a kid until they were financially stable with their own homes and careers and they were sure their relationship was secure and mature enough for kids (lol parental issues).

i see them having 3-4 kids. steve is a stay at home dad, maybe working remote doing something academic related (teacher!steve my beloved) so he watches them while bug is at work.

they visit hawkins every chance they get - packing the kids all up in their giant car and making the roadtrip a part of the whole fun affair. claudia loves it, dustin is always happy to see his nieces and nephews, and joyce makes sure to give all the kids candy she steals from melvalds (all the kids call her "grandma") (joyce cries) (claudia cries too)

speaking of the byers: jonathan and nancy have a spare room in stugs house and vice versa. it was mandated by both bug and jon. steve and nancy get no say in this but know their partners are slightly insane and co dependent and its a bit endearing. whenever they visit each other, bug and jon disappear into their own world together and everyone always teases them.

I like the idea that countries are affected by their populace, culturally especially it can be very funny or very sad depending on what you’re looking at

KIDS TIME !!

i see them having 2 girls 2 boys so clearly

steve almost passes out when bug first tells him shes pregnant. like she fully has to force him to sit down and once hes feeling better he immediately calls robin screaming "im a dad !!!!!!"

hes very touchy when bug is pregnant, which is a feat considering how touchy he is in general. so when shes pregnant hes just all hands on her stomach/neck/back anywhere she holds tension

when their first kid is born steve and bug have a moment of freakout because theyre parents ???? what do they do with this small child ?????? theyre the cliche extra cautious scared parents the first week lmao

theyre a great duo though. steve is such a good dad and bug is such a good mom they fall into parenthood so naturally. theres no arguments even when theyre both exhausted and overwhelmed. they care for each other as much as they care for their first kid, and this stays throughout their entire marriage as more kids come !!!

the only time they ever argue as parents is when its time to name the kids lmao. steve always wants themed names and bug likes older, more unusual but still acceptable names (seeing as her name is technically juliette)

names i see: oliver, theo, eleanor, savannah, elia, those vibes ya feel (henry would be on here but ,,, vecna)

their kids are such a perfect combination of them and that is why theyre demons. they have steves charm and bugs wit and their combined chaotic stupidity when left alone

theyre all close in age, except i can also see their final kid as an whoops guess we're having another kid a few years later lmao

family is extremely important to bug and steve and they try to instill this in the kids as well. always be there for each other. always be kind to one another. always protect the other. never, ever give up on each other.

the second they move into their first place together theyre wandering neighborhood and come across a cute stray kitten and keep her - steve names her george because he finds her in a bush. just george though. not george bush. steve makes that very clear

george becomes a menace kitten and bug adores her the minute she scratches mikes arm

robin and george are enemies. no one can bridge that gap, not even bug

their apartment becomes a safe space for the party. theyre welcomed any time, bug makes that a rule from day 1. people usually find mike there bothering them

dustin becomes their roommate by accident. he visits one day and just doesnt leave

when steve proposes he gets the entire party involved and it makes bug love him even more <333

has a fear of bees (ironically enough) like she respects them and what they do for the environment but whenever they buzz near her she screams and runs

favorite season is summer. the sun and the air and blue skies remind her of virginia and where she grew up before everything changed and anger set in

great baker, horrible chef (no one knows why)

favorite cake is strawberry shortcake and shes had it as her birthday cake every year since she was 3 (her dads idea)

steve headcannons:

favorite holiday was halloween growing up so he could pretend to be someone else

has always wanted a sibling, so the party welcoming him in makes him incredibly happy

first heartbreak was when his preschool crush wouldnt marry him

the first time he saw bug in high school after leaving middle school he almost walked into the lockers. she had changed so much in a year, and he almost hadnt recognize her <3

bug was his first ever crush and the reason why hes so horrible with girls now. spent his first 4 years of puberty just admiring his bff. bless him

secretly envies how easy it is for steve to be liked by the party. he grew up with the boys and doesnt understand when they stopped liking him

once walked in on mrs henderson changing and he cried for an hour because he felt so horrible and guilty (bug laughed the entire time)

has competed with bug for the best grades in school since they were 12 (bug has no idea this is even a thing)

Steve has very realistic baby dreams and genuinely gets upset when he wakes up and it's not real

When the party was younger (like s2/3) they'd call Steve to the arcade to help them with a tough level no one could beat. Steve acted like it was an inconvenience but loved hearing them cheer for him when he won.

They also used to do the same with Jonathan in season one. :( Jonathan ran into Steve helping them and got a little hurt that they called him. ( It was Dustin who called)

It was bugs grandmother who taught her to bake, while Claudia preferred to cook. Everytime bug tried cooking it either came out burnt, undercooked, or just tasted off.

After the divorce Claudia struggled, even after coming back to Hawkins. If Dustin and bug ever made her upset they'd clean the whole house while she was out as an apology. It made her cry every time.

Mews was actually a stray kitten bug and Dustin found. A dirty, fussy, kitten in the woods that Dustin and bug brought home with a smile begging to keep him.

Jonathan made Nancy a mixtape but they have different music tastes. She still appreciates it and plays it when she misses him.

Jonathan gave out candy one year instead of trick or treating and decided to scare the kids that came to the house. He made a kid cry then gave them the whole bowl of candy and turned the lights off. Felt bad the rest of the night. Never told a soul, Joyce just thought he ate the candy.

Eleven looks up to Joyce and started to copy everything she did when they moved to California. The way she talked and dressed, how she did her hair. (Hence the bangs)

Max wishes she was more like bug, she wishes she was kind and not so sarcastic. Little does she know bugs kindness is a defense just like Max's sarcasm.

Joyce made els first Halloween costume and went out trick or treating with her even if she was " too old"

Will paints his memories when he feels lonely. There's a painting of him and bug when they got the flu and had a sleepover ( from the mind flayer in season two? When they were trying to talk to will)

It's Jonathan's favorite painting wills done. Will offered to give it to him but he declined. He still looks at it often when he's homesick ( so does Joyce)

Nancy feels sorry for her mother, shes proud to have her mother's spirit, she's just sad she never got to love her dreams. She wants to do better and make her mom proud.

Nancy(s1) used to do a lot of slightly cringe things. Like she fist pumps the air when she does something right, and dances around her room to music. She sings in the shower but Mike will bang on the door and tell her to be quite. She'll do embarrassing stuff to make holly laugh, just like she did for Mike when he was little. ( Rarely worked he's always had that unimpressed look)

Hopper wants El to be like bug when she grows up, he's happy she has someone like bug to look up to. He sees bugs strength and wants El to have her integrity, and wisdom when it comes to life. He'd never say anything about it though.

Bug has a box of letters under her bed from the Byers. And she pins the pictures will sends her on her wall ( it's slowly being overrun by drawings.)

steve does get baby dreams and he genuinely wakes up sad sometimes (they always happen when he sleeps in bugs bed - hes had to ask to sleep in his bed from now on) and he DEF played at the arcade with the party and bug finds him there one day and absolutely melts (the jon part ,,,,, pls u hurt me).

bug def cant cook shes cursed and can only bake and u read my mind it WAS her grandma who taught her <333

the jon and halloween candy made me GIGGE he would so do that and bug makes fun of him for it every single year LMAO.

and the PAINTING :((( he paints the fort they built and the warmth of the light that reflects bugs face in the painting is so vivid and real that it hurts jonathans chest to look at (joyces too).

i could write essays about nancy and her mom good god . on a lighter note: she IS a nerd and still in my mind does these cute dorky things secretly (jon never teases her for it, he joins).

hopper and el and bug oh my god </3 in my mind, hopper sees sarah in bug. thats why he hated her so much at firsy. bugs wide eyes, childish wonder, and endless kindness reminded hopper of the daughter he lost.
