Happy summer exchange! This fic is for blueelvewithwings! I’m so thankful for our brilliant mods at @coldflashevents for once again taking the time to organising these events to keep this fandom churning out content! Thank you!

Summary: Barry’s not made of money, okay? He has to eat, and he has to eat a lot. He can’t afford to buy his bodyweight in takeout every night; so, he cooks. And maybe Leonard Snart stops by every now and then and steals his food… that’s no big deal. It’s really, really not.

Fastest Way to Your Heart [Teen | 15k | Complete]

Barry came to a stop with a metal spoon in his hand, bringing a taste of the amber liquid to his lips. He took a moment to cool it down with short puffs of air against the metal, and Len’s eyes zeroed in on the movements with a laser focus.

He was beginning to get hungry, feeling it blossom even stronger as he watched Barry’s lips finally wrap around the spoon in front of him.

Barry sighed in delight, a small moan escaping him as he stirred the pot and tasted the sauce again.

Smirking, Len laid his customary drawl on thick as he said: “If I’d known you’d be this excited to see me, I’d have shot by sooner.”

Barry jumped. His movements became a blur, but Len could swear he dropped the spoon and had to fumble to catch it again at superspeed before it could splash into the pot below. Finally, the Flash spun around to face his intruder, brandishing the spoon like a weapon between himself and Captain Cold.

Len glanced down at the cutlery, and his smirk widened.

He couldn’t resist.

“Didn’t know you wanted to spoon me, Barry.”

It’s been too long since I wrote Coldflash! This is my little fic for the Coldflash Exchange 2021 at @coldflashevents​:

It's a little disappointing that breaking into the apartment of the Flash's civilian alter ego is so easy. The hero of Central City – and a CCPD senior detective's son on top – with the entire impressive array of S.T.A.R. Lab's resources at his disposal, and the kid doesn't even have a reinforced door or some kind of simple alarm system.

Not that any security bells and whistles would have been able to stop Leonard from getting in, but he likes the thrill of a challenge, and this... isn't it.

Then again, perhaps there's method in the sloppiness. There is absolutely nothing in the apartment worth stealing and, in fact, no clue that Barry Allen might be anything but the Central's most boring CSI, whose most valuable possession appears to be a reasonably new Playstation that might sell for a couple hundred dollars on eBay. Not even a hint of the kid's extracurricular activities.

Maybe Leonard should have broken into S.T.A.R. Labs instead, check out what else Team Flash might have up their sleeves to make his life more difficult. But as enlightening as that may have been, if Leonard had done that, he wouldn't have been able to snoop through Barry's personal belongings now. And even if they have no monetary value... There's a unique kind of thrill to poking around in his nemesis' personal life: the DVD collection that has too much sci-fi, the forensics textbooks with messy handwritten scribbles on the margins, the sickeningly domestic assortment of photos of his friends and his family on the shelves like a Who's Who of convenient targets for a villain with a grudge, the Big Belly Burger wrappings in the trash, the unmade bed.

The fridge is a sad wasteland, the kitchen cupboards full of mismatched tableware that Leonard would bet were passed down from the West family when Barry moved out. In the far back, Leonard finds a cupcake mix, expired half a year ago. Not a baker, then. Not much of a drinker either, apparently, but at least there are two bottles of beer in the fridge door.

Leonard grabs one of them and settles on the couch, leafing through Barry's old high school yearbooks as he waits for the Flash to come home.

If your work is in the collection by this time and we don't receive any news from you then we will assume it's ready to reveal.

If you don't want us to reveal your work because it's not ready, then you must contact us beforehand.

Publication Date

A reminder that your work's publication date must match the reveal day; so make sure to edit the date to 1st September (or a later date if you're submitting after 1st September)

We are allowing a few days afterwards for late submissions but please try and aim for 1st September. Just let us know if you're going to be late!

Once works are revealed, you are free to post on tumblr/other platforms - mention this blog and use #CFX21 to get reblogged
