After 41 copies of the Press Photo Belarus 2011 album were confiscated at the border, a local court in Ašmiany (Hrodna district) decided that the publication contains extremist materials and its distribution has to be banned. The court’s decision is mandatory across the country.

The book containes over 200 photos of the winners of the annual competition, Press Photo Belarus, in various genres, incl. photojournalism, nature and sport. This volume includes a number of photographs from the presidential election 2010, however not only those images were found objectionable.

According to the Belarusian Association of Journalists (BAJ), while possession of the book in a private collection doesn’t constitute crime, possession for distribution does.

During the Brazilian Military Dictatorship of '64, all the country was under heavy censorship. The songs written in that time were dubbed 'Protest Songs', for they criticized the government.

The problem was that the songwriters and singers had to be very careful or they would end up 'missing' (AKA: dead.), so the songs had to be very, very, subjective. This one ended up being adopted as one of the most important of that time, and the original recording of the show where it was introduced to us was destroyed. The singer, Geraldo Vandré, was exiled during the dictatorship.

This song was used as the hymn of the students' rebellion, the lyrics, translated:
