Who remembers Almeda wildfire survivor Big Foot⁉️ Rescued and trapped by wildfire search team Caylen Kelsey & @teamferalcats Amanda Linnehan, Big Foot was transferred to Petals-4-Paws community cat program, Cherub's Cottage, this past June. Cherub's Cottage, a collaborative of committed local rescues, trappers and feeders, has become a haven for challenging, un-socialized and/or severely feral cats and kittens that must be relocated. We are honored that Big Foot has bestowed his trust upon us, and so happy to announce he has successfully transitioned to being one of P4P's permanent working cat residents. His transition to freedom and independence has strengthened his trust of the human experience, so much so that he dilly dalleys and lingers wherever we are outside, acting uninterested in us or what we're doing, all the while strategically positioning himself to never lose sight of us! Folks, this is a process from start to finish, feeding, trapping, medically vetting - due to the pandemic and worker shortage, very few local Veterinarians are able and willing to sedate for triage, sterilization - a minimum 1-2 month's wait, and, finally, relocation. The process is a test of patience and compassion, and one of the most rewarding experiences. Done correctly, it can take a minimum of 6 months + minimum 3 months relocation follow-up - 3 out of 13 of the untouchables we have rehabbed took 12(+) months. P4P is grateful to organizations that are able to facilitate high volume rescues and meet high volume needs, their work allows us to dedicate our time to those kitties who otherwise may never be visible to the public.
