Woke up today & realized today is the 2 year anniversary of @hashtaglunchbagsf 13,800 lunches later, over 1000 volunteers, we're still going strong! I always get the question why I started #hashtaglunchbagsf but it's always hard to answer because the truth is I didn't think much on why I should start it, I simply took action, I found out about the movement, decided to start a group, reserved a venue set a date all with in an hour! I happened to see a picture on social media of people handing out lunches in New York, I simply wanted to volunteer, after searching I realized that there wasn't a group in #sanfrancisco the Bay Area or even northern #california so I thought to myself I could do that & called my amazing friend @pvolfovski & asked if he would let me use @cellarsf to gather volunteers & make lunches. Fast forward two years, #cellarsf still generously allows us to use their venue. We've truly created a movement here & inspired so many other to organize their own group too, now they're dozens of chapters in the Bay Area & Northern California, including Sacramento, San Jose, Oakland, Fairfield & so many more. The power of social media is a powerful tool if used correctly. I didn't except such support, or for the movement to grow as it did because I didn't expect anything, I just wanted to help, the rest was out of my hands & I'm proud, humbled & thankful to be part of a community of love & giving! THANK YOU!
