Have you ever seen the movie angels egg? I've been re-listening to critical hit and the description of She Who Slumbers in Agony gave me vibes (not the same but similar) of one of the things (scenes? creatures? it's hard to describe) in that movie
I have not, but I’ll look into it.
So i've been re-listening to the whole critical hit series to learn how about description, setting a mood, things like that. I still get confused as hell about the Randus skipping through time to get the chronometer. Mind helping me?
Divine inspiration + Ancient Power = Timey Wimey Nonsense.
Would you be willing to share your thoughts on the themes you wanted to explore in the first two season of critical hit?
The first arc I really wanted to explore putting sci-fi themes into a fantasy framework. Alien invasions, ancient lunar artifacts, cosmic werewolves, etc.
The main drive for the second arc, Celestial Crusade, was that, having had a traveling quest, I wanted to have a stationary game. I wanted a thing where the players had a home base and were solving problems and dealing with things that came to them.
THIS
DID
NOT
WORK
The players were just not having it, so they all ended up on boats. Good bye Sha-Lai, see you in 20 sessions.
That said, I think the second half of Celestial Crusade is some of the more successful CH we’ve created. Goes to show that just because your plans aren’t working, doesn’t mean you’re failing.
Surprised at all the people commenting about being shocked Thoney wasn't a gnome, I never got a gnome vibe from him, though I may have had a steampunk doc brown in my head the whole time......
It’s a fundamental issue of the medium. Sometimes you can describe something a thousand times and the players (and in this case listeners) will add or change things to match their expectations. There’s an episode in Celestial Crusade where I describe a dome-like structure but one of the players keeps calling it a tower. I explain to him that it’s not a tower, but it does not penetrate. I think the word “tower” even made it onto the episode title.
I got a thousand of these. I played a triceratops man once who I described several times as having black scales, but the GM had it in his head that he was green. And so, eventually I just made him green, because I wasn’t that attached to the black scales (and it was harder to draw).
Aaactually, I just remembered too getting a bunch of e-mails of people saying “a guy with an airship named T(h)on(e)y? I can’t help but picture him like Iron Man”. Because when those episodes were first coming out Iron Man was tied up with Shield in the comics and flying around on a hellicarrier. You can’t remove people’s expectations or connections, but you can try and fight them, I guess.

So there are a lot of people talking about the Raven Queen's transformation, but I can not remember anything about her transforming. I've listened to the whole series twice, but can't really remember anything of the sort. Could you please jog my memory?
Not if you’re looking or an episode number. I’m super bad at those. But it happened pretty close to the end of Celestial Crusade.
Relistening to critical hit. Just got to the end of the Celestial Crusade campaign and losing Brenzin the Bold and Boa-Bel Bina... Currently an emotional wreck all over again and I knew it was coming! Damn you Rodrigo!
Is there anyplace where a drawing of the Bomb-bolt exists? I kind of want to use it for a game.
not to my knowledge. But maybe some one else has seen one.
