Leaving her home had felt like such a chore lately. It seemed that the entire state of Rhode Island was suddenly crawling with paparazzi, and it wasn’t like Chloe didn’t like to be photographed, but having to look her absolute best twenty-four hours a day was somewhat draining. She had taken to wearing hats with the cap lowered over her forehead, eyes covered by chunky shades despite the cold November weather and lack of sun, just for the sake of privacy. It was particularly inconvenient to do so today, considering the beautiful dress she’d bought for Friendsgiving that absolutely did not pair well with a baseball cap, and how neatly she’d styled her hair, so she was already in something of a sour mood as she entered the lobby—through the main entrance, of all things!—of the Empire Hotel, in search of the exclusive party Samantha had invited her to. Shooting a scowl toward the front desk worker, Chloe tipped her dark shades forward, eyeing her over the top of them. “What kind of establishment is this?” she spat in place of a greeting. “Where is the VIP entrance? Do you know how many people could’ve seen me?”

chloe has spent her entire life up on a pedestal. not only was she spoiled materially, but as richard and emilia’s first child, she could really do no wrong in their eyes. anything she did (whether she did it well or not), they deemed “perfect”, so chloe has grown up with something of a god complex, and the entirely wrong sense that she is great at absolutely everything. in reality, she is mediocre at most things—dancing, for example—and some things she is downright terrible at—singing—but she doesn’t see the flaws.

it was likely a mixture of chloe’s parents’ wealth and status, as well as her own ego, that boosted her popularity in school. she was the queen bee, the one everybody followed around and bowed down to. chloe said “jump,” people asked “how high?” she doesn’t know rejection, she isn’t used to it, so when she entered the real world, the word “no” came as something of a shock to her, and she could never understand why things weren’t simply handed to her the way they had been her entire life prior.

with the deluded idea that she would be able to make it as an actress—acting...another skill she doesn’t actually possess—chloe packed up and moved out to los angeles after finding herself bored with college after only a year’s half-hearted attempt. her parents were of course supportive of her dreams, so when chloe begun auditioning and received a million rejections, her self-esteem was shaken. her agent pushed her in the direction of modeling, something that actually worked out for her. in fact, it is kind of the perfect career for her; she is the center of attention, and doesn’t actually need much practical skill to pose in front of a camera. plus, physically, she is beautiful, something she very much knows.

although her acting career didn’t work out, chloe has appeared in a few commercials (non-speaking roles, of course), so totally has “model, actress and entrepreneur” listed in all of her social media biographies—oh, and on her self-created imdb page, duh. unhappy with the audacity of business professionals in los angeles being too straight up with her, chloe moved back to rhode island some years ago now, where she continues to model, film the odd commercial here and there, and is close enough to her biggest fans (her parents) to receive their constant showers of praise.
