“This is a free CD from Electronic Sound magazine, a geeky music magazine for music geek-freaks like myself covering a wide range of styles and sounds as long as they’re electronically generated in some shape or form. It’s been going for a few years now, but I only came across last year, and this year treated myself to a subscription. It’s a treat when it arrives every month, complete with a lovingly recreated 7” reissue of something obscure or wonderful, but usually both. This sampler came from issue 25 which curiously didn’t cover much if anything about Krautrock between its pages, instead sported Flaming Lips on the cover and inside one of those fantastic listicles that journalists love so much: “The Top 100 Electronic Tracks of All Time”. None of them feature on this CD, but it does contain some interesting Krautish electro prog. . Most of the tracks on this Sampler are recent (the majority ranging from 2011-2016). Proving that Krautrock is not a genre lost in the mists of time but one that is developing and reinventing itself as fast as the country that birthed it.
