Working in a kindergarten had its ups and downs, such is the way of life. There were lessons to be taught, vegetables to be eaten, and tears be wiped away. It was a tiring job but the ups always outweighed the downs to Aelius. There was something about shaping young minds, teaching right from wrong, that drew Aelius into the center since the first day. There were also times like now that caused the man’s heart to grow full.
“Mister Sun, Mister Sun! Do you like my picture?”
Aelius to the little girl, Jinhye, looking down at he colorful stick figures.
“It’s beautiful, Jinhye; let’s put the picture in your bag to show your parents later, hm?” he replied as he petted her head. The little girl eagerly nodded as she waddled towards the backpack cabinets. Aelius smiled at her and looked around; most of the students have already left for the day but it wasn’t uncommon to have a few stragglers. Aelius turned to continue wiping the table but another student stood before him.
Little Joonie looked up at him, eyes wide and cheeks a soft pink, as he reached out for the teacher’s hand. Aelius’s lips pulled into another smiled picked up the giggling toddler before walking towards the bookshelf.
“Shall we read another story today, Joonie?”
