“Tell Ruhn I forgive him,” Bryce said, shaking again. Tears streamed down the prince’s face. “I forgave him a long time ago,” Bryce said. “I just didn’t know how to tell him. Tell him I’m sorry I hid the truth, and that I only did it because I love him and didn’t want to take anything away from him. He’ll always be the better one of us.” The agony on Ruhn’s face turned to confusion.

“Bryce.” His face grew grave. “You really thought that I would care more about the Starborn shit than about you? You honestly think I care which one of us it is? I don’t care if I’m called Prince or Starborn or the Chosen One or any of that.” He grabbed her hand. “The only thing I want to be called right now is your brother.” He added softly, “If you’ll have me.”

“I’ve got you,” he murmured. “Sweetheart, I’ve got you.” He’d never said it like that before—that word. It had always been mocking, teasing. She’d always found it just this side of annoying. Not this time. Not when he held her hand and her gaze and everything she was. Riding out the pain with her. “Breathe,” he ordered her. “You can do it. We can get through this.” Get through it—together. Get through this mess of a life together. Through this mess of a world. Bryce sobbed, not entirely from pain this time. And Hunt, as if he sensed it, too, leaned forward again. Brushed his mouth against hers. Just a hint of a kiss—a feather-soft glancing of his lips over hers. A star bloomed inside her at that kiss. A long-slumbering light began to fill her chest, her veins.
Do I really even need to explain myself here? While the buildup of their relationship is of the delicious hate-to friend-to love nature, this was the exact scene that turned me into a hard core never-looking-back Quinlar shipper. It's such a beautiful scene, you guys.
Crescent City week: day one
Favorite character: Ruhn Danaan
Ruhn is the ultimate brother goals. He always puts Bryce first, is always looking out for her even when she doesn't want him to. He's vulnerable and apologizes when he's wrong. It is so rare to see strong family bonds in these fantasy series' and even more rare to see a male who isn't constantly throwing out alpha male vibes. Ruhn is soft and he loves his sister and doesn't care who knows it and I love him for it.
